Andre Ward Vs Carl Froch potentially

Post by horndawg80 »

After watching Andre Ward dismantle Arthur Abraham, I don't think Carl can beat him. Ward has everything in abundance and wins by UD! Ward will beat him to every punch despite Froch's long whip type jab!

Where now for Arthur Abraham?

In fact, I think I will bet my house on it! I am a massive supporter of Froch too.

Ward Vs Bute will be good.........as would Diirrell Vs Ward

Degale is not too far behind Ward to be honest! I await the abuse! ha-ha

I would give the edge to Ward based on his advantages in speed and defense. I also think that Wards puts his punches together better than Froch does, and Ward is far more versatile and willing to let his hands go than his friend Dirrell. If it happens it will be a competitive fight though.

Ward will win the S6, its just a question of who he beats in the final. I have said this since the first fight. Froch will have his hans full with Johnson but has done extremely well to get this far.

Froch will remain dangerous throughout.

But. I have not seen any Froch performance yet, that builds an argument to say he will beat Ward.
Whilst Ward has demonstrated a couple performances to suggest he will handle Froch.

I too think that Johnson will give Froch a good run for his money. Always a risk he will suddenly age i know.
The Abraham fight will be Frochs A-plan - i just think Johnson will not be so subdued.

Ward For me has boxed in a comfort zone so far. I really think Froch Will win. His boxing skills are so under rated. And If Ward wants a WAR he will definitely get out gunned. Remember Carl Froch Has The Iron Chin. Jean pascal Still Has Nightmares About that Night In Nottingham.

I expected Ward to do a better job on Abraham, i was not overly impressed with his perfromance, even though he won every round on my card. I still fancy him to beat Froch if they meet in the final, but i'm giving Froch a bit more of a chance than i was before Ward-Abraham.

Froch is up against it with Johnson, i do favour him to win, but i wont be at all surprised if Johnson pulls it off!

There is no way he will outbox Ward. I dont see any way of him winning to be honest. I see him getting thoroughly beaten. Remember, he was losing to an arguably shot Taylor going in to the last round, a guy who somehow managed to be losing on points to Arthur Abraham before getting chinned. ward is more than capable of mixing it up too, Bika is one of the roughest guys out there and Ward beat him. I would mention the Kessler fight but apparently Ward cheated and Froch actually beat Kesssler.

Ward ducks under a lot of punches. If he gets to the final, Froch needs to try and ensure one is down there waiting for him.

Ward's opponents have so far gone to fight him without much of a game plan. Ulli Wegner, Abraham's trainer, was shockingly bad last night. In between rounds he said the following:
"Use a 1-2, Arthur"
"Come on Arthur"
"come on Arthur"
And that was towards the end of the fight, when Arthur really needed to be told how he could set Ward up for a knockout. Ward kept diving in hard-first, and Ulli Wegner didn't tell Abraham how to capitalise on it. Terrible!

With the right game plan, Froch can do it. He has to be clever about it.

Yes! You and I are thinking along the same lines. I've also noticed that none of Ward's opponents have been feinting or setting up shots.

Froch's got a brutal uppercut. I can see some tasty inside fighting going on if they meet.

I thought Froch did a better job on Abraham than Ward did. Froch put his shots together better and dominated him more.

With neutral judges, even though Froch/Ward is rumoured for MSG (if Froch beats Johnson!), I can see Froch giving Ward the hardest fight of his career to date. Froch's lunging jab, along with his excellent uppercut and quick reflexes will be something Ward hasn't really had to overcome so far in the pros at world level.

Ward was impressive in the Kessler fight (aided by his dirty tricks etc), but since then, he hasn't impressed me too much. Froch has more than a chance in the final!

I'm not sure how you thought Ward didn't completely dominate last night - he was in absolute control and coasted for a few rounds, never stopped working and was comfortable. How that wasn't as impressive as Froch's victory over a smaller and ponderous fighter too really confuses me.

Carl is bigger and stronger, much more dangerous, obviously he's quick and can box too unlike Abraham, but we saw against Kessler that Ward is good against all sorts of fighters.

It's not a 50/50 fight, more 75/25 in Ward's favour, mainly because of his freshness and the number of tough wars Carl has already had, but Froch is a warrior and definitely has a chance. Got to favour Ward on the evidence we've seen so far though - he's not really been in trouble in the whole tournament.

I dont know about froch winning but he will give ward fits. Ward likes to get in, throw a combo and get off, similar to pascal but as they get off froch will be right there throwing his own punches. He will not be deterred. He is like liquid terminator, cant get rid of him and he wont give up

I expect Froch and McCracken will go in with the plan of being 'in it' with 4 or 5 rounds to go. Has Ward ever been in danger of being caught on the cards with 4 or 5 rounds to go in his career? Much like the Taylor fight I hope to see Ward start to fall apart a bit when he is forced to fight for 3 minutes of every round while also taking some digs back each round, I know Froch was down by 4 rounds on 2 of the cards in the Taylor fight but if you watch the fight and genuinely had him down by that much I'd be suprised, I had him 2 rounds down going into the last personally.

Lets also not forget that in terms of in fighting Froch will give Ward back a hell of a lot more than anyone he has fought so far and won't be shoved around easily because of his physical strength. Ward will go in as a favourite because he has won his fights so convincingly but a 'wear him down' strategy may well do it for Carl.

Just been trying to think, how much has Ward had his chin tested at world level?

It's been hard to hit him so far, with his up-close, dirty tactics with Cali refs in charge and with AA not having the technical ability. It'll be interesting to see if Ward still comes forward as much if Carl lands with some big shots to the head and body.

Interesting fight coming up if Carl beats Johnson, for sure!

Abraham caught him a few times and he is a bigger puncher than Froch. Carl is not really a puncher at world level.

I'd still have them pretty evenly matched, Ward quicker and craftier but Froch a harder puncher and more trusting of his chin.

Would still favour Ward in a competitive UD, he may get stunned by Froch's uppercuts but he seems clever enough a fighter to adjust and tie Froch up.

I think that Ward is a dirty bastard and you need to outman him but also while using skill, Sakio Bika nearly outmanned him but didn't have the skill to back it up.

Joe Calzaghe would heave chased him out of the ring.

mark my words ward is vastly overrated ,lol showtime call him the next srl! Based on beating an off key kessler, a out of his depth green and granted a very good win over abraham. his feet move like they are in cement his long distance jab is average. his power very average. its really on the inside where his speed takes off with those blistering and diverse combos and he is well put together obviously olympic gold medal put together.........i just dont think he will ever have come across a carl froch aka mr diversity. on the one hand slow hands but lightning reflexes. power puncher but also concrete chin and despite his theatrics he is a smooth boxer able to carry out a gameplan. i thought he beat kessler too......... ward isnt even as good as dirrel imo. I had last nights fight even after 4 rounds. Froch will give ward a real hiding you all see.

Reckon Ward will be favourite against Froch (if Froch gets there) but I do think Froch stands a chance. Ward looks class but I think Foch will be his hardest opponent yet, hopefully we'll get to see

Ward will be difficult to beat, he is fast, strong and defensively sound. By know means has he got it in the bag though.

Froch will hit him everywhere, chest, arms, head & body and will look to run right through him behind the jab.

With regards last night, Ward won decisively, but he never hurt or troubled Abraham with his punches like Froch did.

In Helsinki Carl clobbered him and he was in a right mess in the hotel the next day. I also thought Ward expended a lot of energy fighting like that and whilst he finished strong enough, he did look shattered.

I was a bit concerned by the judge who gave it 120-108 to Ward, because Arbaham clearly won 2 out of the first 3 rounds for me.

But the result was pretty much how I expected. Ward winning but not making much of dent. Im just glad he never nutted Arthur or dropped an elbow in.

i like this post..too many people are believing the hype the media offer to ward...fckin glenn mccrory was kissing his r's..how can hitting and holding be good boxing? he hits like a girl..carl can walk thru him and fck him up..but u know what, the refs in the usa wont let him, they will let ward hit and hold and steal a win..what happened to the days when they said us judges liked come forward fighters? only on their terms..
