What does Witter do now ???

Post by Foggy »

I think is best bet is to call out Cotto, hard fight but i think it the only option he has. He aint rated by the IBf (i dont think he is anyway - and a fight with Hatton would only come off if Witter won a major title). He aint rated by the WBA so a fight against Maussa would be off the cards, also reports of Hatton wanting the Maussa fight & M'Baye being the #1 will have to fight Maussa. WBC option, both Tszyu & Branco are rated above Witter in the WBC. To me it almost seems a case of so close but yet so far away, what does he do, his he just gunna have to wait like Hatton did and when that big fight finally comes take his chance ????

If Tszyu comes back, he may end up having to fight an eliminator, which is a bit of a tougher night's work than beating mike Stewart.

Did someone say M'Baye is Maussa's mandatory. The same guy reportedly on a FW bill shortly....?

Yes. M'Baye won an eliminator vs Kotelnik last year.

Hang on, isn't Branco and Witter due to fight for the right to face Mayweather for mandatory position?

So could Warren bid for M'Baye v Maussa to compliment a Hatton v N'Dou fight, then promote the winners (presumably MBaye and Hatton) to meet ahead of a summer 2006 clash with Mayweather?

Meaning Mayweather brings the WBC, and Hatton the WBA and IBF.

As someone astute wrote, I suspect if Hatton IS going to be on ITV, then would ITV like to get some lead-time ahead of a Mayweather clash. Though I doubt Mayweather will come to the UK. So that point may be moot.

I think Cotto will head north to 147 and wait for Mayweather there, he wont want to fight at Ricky's pace and with Tszyu looking at retirement at 147 and Harris exposed. suddenly the once rich division is looking more barren.

Unless Castillo and Corrales head up.

Random ramblings.....

I just DONT think Hatton faces a marquee fighter in November. Surely he gets a freebie, maybe two before Mayweather

So Mayweather gets a freebie too?

No way Hatton v Mayweather happens this year. Both will have stay-busy fights this year...

The one major stumbling block i see, is that I just don't see Mayweather coming to Manchester, especially after the Tszyu fight.

Hatton may well want to fight in the garden, but think Warren will want home advantage for as long as is possible.

I wouldn't be surprised if Corley was brought over for either Hatton or Witter...
