David Price vs John McDermott

Post by diddy »

Is it just me or is the line set on David Price vs McDermott too low? -275? Fury was -700 vs McDermott I believe. Isn't Price considered to be on par or better than Fury at the same stage?

Is Price a safe bet here?

Definitely too low imo. I think Price will beat McD handily.

Price and JCCJr seem to be underlays. They're not flying Zbik in from Germany to
dethrone their little golden boy on the scorecards. Way too much $ to be made in a follow up title fight between JCCJr and Cotto.

Mate, there already is a betting thread. :TU:

I'd say McD has a good chance here, fornicate knows what it is on the index or whatever.

I'm from the U.S so I had to familiarize myself with these 2 fighters. McDermott is a fat slob. Tough dude, yes, but not much of a "boxer". Price is a big strapping dude, seems fundamentally sound, has a very crisp long jab and seems to pack quite a punch. I'd rate him even with Fury, if not a bit more advanced at the same stage of their pro careers. Price is there to be hit, though, so I suppose McDermott has a puncher's chance I just think he'll get picked the hell apart from the outside by that jab as long as Price boxes as he should. I would also imagine, if this got to the cards, that Price (as the prospect) would get the benefit of the doubt of the close rounds since the same thing happened for Fury vs McDermott.

Mcdermott can box!! he may look messy because he's out of shape, but he is deceiving. I think this will be a tougher fight for Pricey than many believe.

As McDermott has proved enough times in the past - write him off at your peril! I'm not going to and I'm looking forward to the fight.

i dont think price holds a good shot, also he's to tall for a boxer once he gets caught the co'ordination goes i think john will be so up for this fight, it wont last long and for me john will ko price inside 4 rounds.

Well that will only matter if Price let's McDermott get close enough to land a thudding shot. With that ridiculously long jab Price should have him at the end of his punches all night.

McDermott isn't going to stop Price with a single shot and I believe Price is too good to allow McDermott to tee off on him

Price in 6

I think John has more than a punchers chance. I fancy him to cause an upset.

Price has looked good but he's had it way too easy - Big John will find a way to get at him like he did Fury and I'm not sure Price's chin will hold up like Fury's. Another thing - Pricey spars a lot with Tom Dallas - not exactly the best preparation for a crafty and experienced operator like McD.

The sparring he has done with McD might help though

Price is a lot better than Fury.
Fury is slow and one-dimensional....and too flabby round the waist

John's a mate of mine, i know the 1st Fury fight John was so up, and was right in the head, never see him train like that before in preparation for a fight...The 2nd Fury McD fight John was'nt the same fighter he had left our gym and started training with Jim Mc, John dont mind getting out of training and will pull a stroke or two to do that, Jim Mc dont know his tricks excuses etc and this show'd in the 2nd Fight.. After that fight he came back to CJ and started getting ready for Big Larry, again he trained his Balls off was in the right frame of mind so up for it.. He has left again and has'nt had the right preparation for Price, there 2 great fellas but id love to see John winning this fight as we have become mates imo John's only chance will be in the first 2 rounds if he can land a few Big over Right Hands if not i dont see it going passed 6 rounds maybe with John quiting on the stool... I hope im wrong.
