Joe "Old Bones" Brown. Defended his title against some pretty good boys during the 50's.

Orlando Zulueta was stopped only ONCE in 126 bouts.

That was by Joe Brown in their title fight.

In the FIVE years and 8 months Joe Brown held the lightweight title,

Brown successfully defended his title ELEVEN times, including KO's over

Bud Smith,

Orlando Zulueta,

Joey Lopes,

Ralph Dupas,

Paoli Rosi,

and Dave Charnley,

and decisions over Kenny Lane, Johnny Busso, Cisco Andrade, Dave Charnley and Bert Somodio

until he suddenly ran out of strength and punching power all at once against Carlos Ortiz, who fought a careful fight and won the title from Brown on a 15 round decision.

What a pity Ortiz and Brown did not meet when both were in their primes.

Great shout.

Brown was tremendous & definitely doesn't get enough 'airtime' so to speak.

I also strongly agree with a previous poster who has chosen Fighting Harada.

How these guys don't get talked about more often, despite great achievements is beyond me.

Counting newspaper decisions he had a record of 152-28-14. Only 11 matches on BoxRec for him despite the fact that he decisively defeated Tony Canzoneri, and posted 2 wins over HOF'er Lew Jenkins, and one over Benny Bass. Along with that he beat Steve Halaiko 5 times, Harry Dublinsky 4 times, Johnny Jadick 3 times, Roger Bernard, Leo Rodak, Bobby Pacho, and Maxie Berger twice each, and Maxie Strub, Sammy Dorfman, Ray Miller, Tony Herrera, the Cocoa Kid, Jackie Davis, Chuck Woods and Eddie Cool once each.

Robert Cleroux. My father knew him a little. Seldom talked about here. Won 2 of 3 against Chuvalo, had an iron chin too and a better punch than Chuvalo. Has a win over Williams, lost twice to Folley. Never stopped in his career.
