James DeGale vs George Groves (Preview)

Post by boxingviews »

All the build up over the previous months all come down to this. James DeGale and George Groves have hated each other since their days as amateurs when Groves defeated DeGale. Since this fight was announced they have been taunting and bagging each other in the media. The 2 were on Ringside earlier this year where they were sitting next to each other and had a war of words which can been seen in full below. Both fighters are undefeated in their professional career.

From the clips I've seen of these guys, I think DeGale is gonna beat the snot out of him. DeGale is HIGHLY advanced for a dude with 10 pro fights.

I think the only chance for Groves is if he boxes a cagey, negative fight for the first few rounds and gets Groves frustrated. Then errors may appear that he can exploit. De Gale started to look a bit ragged when he got frustrated in his last fight, and that won't have gone unnoticed by the Groves camp.

it's not really a preview, just a collection of facts put together. there is no analysis of styles or previous fights. i would rate the article 2 out of 10. prediction: degale wins inside three rounds.

That would be a pretty shite game-plan for Groves to adopt.

this is a sign of the times. these two have been rushed into a showdown. it could have been built up over the next year and a half into something big.....

but no one has the time or vision to do things properly anymore.

this fight will barely be registered.

I'm really looking forward to this one, I give Groves a real chance in this one! He can keep the centre of the ring and work behind his jab, keeping DeGale off balance and not letting him get set before coming in with his own combinations to head and body. It's a real interesting matchup

Or, alternatively, they could have fannied around for 18 months, winning the odd intercontinental belt, and never fought.

exactly, or it could end up Groves goes no further than Euro level and in 18months/whatever Degale is levels apart... or whatever...

anyways we've all surely seen enough fights NOT come off, to be happy when one does, surely?

I'm pleased its happing now, surely anyone who follows the sport has got to be a little bit interested. As has been said if it does'nt happen now theres no guarantee their careers will develope at the same pace, they are both legitimate title holders and cannot be called novices any more so lets find out who's all mouth and who is'nt.
Oh,and i think Degale will a bit too strong and stop Groves late on.(but i'm usually wrong) :OhYes:

Let them get at it, too many fights have never happened because ppl were 'allowing them to stew'.

This is what boxing needs, not more mis-matches and Inter / Penta titles.

The loser can come again.

Groves needs to be negative and get DeGale to come to him, thats the only way he wins imo.

Good, strong jab and let those body shots go, Georgie.

I knew I should have placed a bet, but I don't gamble. I can sometimes call them though 8)
