Off-topic - Original Boxing Artwork

I just thought I would canvas some opinion. I've produced some boxing posters based on famous fights, which I intend to put on sale to see if I can supplement my meagre income. They are all stylised and some quite abstract.

So far I've got.

Hearns v Hagler abstract 70x50cm (various colours)
Ali Foreman (foreman on floor being counted out) abstract 70x50
Marciano v Walcott (KO punch) 70x50cm (black and white)
Champions forever (Ali, Frazier, 70x50cm) Colour
Tyson v Bruno (impressionist style) (70x50) Full Colour
The emporers new clothes (rahman on his ass with his head in the 'o' of the Don symbol on the ring.) 50x50 Full colour poster.

I don't have a website to show you the images, though I will build a website on geocities soon with images.

What other fighters would people like to see. I'm generally doing ones of actual fights rather than portraits of fighters, so which fights would people want if they were going to have a nice piece of art for the wall.

These are all going to be either hand framed or printed on canvas. The latter is much more expensive to produce and thus will cost a lot more.

Just testing the waters here would someone pay in the region of 30 quid for a well produced A3 framed poster? What about 100 quid for a large canvas? If the latter seems expensive, it is, but then the process is expensive.

PERSONALLY IF I WAS GONNA PSEND A 100 NOTES ID GET A SIGNED FOTO OF THE FIGHTERS THEMSELVES.

Yes, however, these aren't photographs. they are pretty classy if I do say so myself.

What about 30 quid for normal framed piece of artwork? I'm trying to work out what price to put these at, they are pretty expensive to produce. An A2 poster without a frame costs a bloody bomb to get printed.

id go for that if i had room but ive got an ali still to put up and dunno where to put it.

i dont want to turn my whole house into a boxing shrine the spare room is enough.

though ali may end up in my bedroom (pardon the pun) as it isnt signed but still a great shot.

(though suppose when im shaggin some tart asking "whose the greatest" she might point at ali

)

Is it original artwork, or 'shopped photos? I'd happily pay £30 for the 1st (if it was any good), and probably tell you to whistle for the 2nd (unless it was excellent).

They started as photographs obviously, but they've been run through illustrator and photoshop amongst other things, but some of them you would be hard pressed to tell and of course are in my humble opinion very good.

I'd like to see anyone selling original artworks for 30 quid a pop framed, wouldn't be worth anyone's while given the amount of time it would take.

Have a look when I get the website up and running, any feedback, even if it's 'go fornicate yourself' is welcome. Well sort of.

I picked up prints of original artworks of Sennas various F1 cars at the Autosport show for £15 a pop, unframed. The original pen & marker drawings were more pricey (about £150), but you print enough copies and it becomes viable. The problem for you, of course, is that if you're doing it off your own back I doubt you'll want to risk getting big runs done. The catch 22 of any new business venture I suppose: you generally need capital to help start things off.

I'll definately have a look at the site when it's up. I do a bit of computer manipulated art myself, so it's definately something I'd be interested in. You should think about selling 'em on EBay, too. Good luck with it, anyway.

How long do we have to wait?

Seriously, there's a lot of dross on the market when it comes to sporting pictures. The trouble is that we know the faces so well and that many of the works try to be exact image captures - any slight angle off or a face too thin and it looks rubbish. Obviously a big plus point for computer stuff.

Some of the crap you see advertised is stuff that a half-talented ten-year-old would churn out. I'm thinking in particular of those montages, such as the Marvin Hagler - a Life in Pencil spectacular. Apologies to anyone who owns it but I just don't think it's all that.

Personally, I'm not that impressed with the stuff on there. Might appeal to some people, but I find those montage style pieces a bit cheesy, I know some people like it, but it's not my cup of tea. The stuff I'm doing is basically digital art, and they are much more abstract, there will be a link up soon enough. We'll see if anyone likes mine, possibly not. Hey ho.

Chuckle, like a man with tourette's in a library mate.

I'm working on a website at the moment so people can have a look, though of course they are reduced file sizes. I am to web site design however, what Gandhi was to arm-wrestling, so it's taking a while. I also want to get more artworks done so I have a good range before I put them up for sale. Got about 5 nice ones now, more coming in the next couple of weeks.

I'm off to buy some frames this weekend to get some prototypes made up. trouble is, they are so expensive to produce, the prints that is.

I really need to get a proper website up and running.

I'm going to make myself a couple this weekend and see how they look, then i will be able to show people.
