When Tony was asking if he should fight Cleverly on here, I think I was the only one who said he shouldn't.Cardiff-Lad1 wrote:Ian, which way do you see this going? you may already have stated but today has been a long day and its all blurred into one, ever since it was announced the German had pulled out!Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:What would be the risk? Tony's a nice lad but I'd be very surprised if he's only a few pounds off the weight. Even if he'd had three months to be on it, I'd take Cleverly to beat him clearly.
The prospect of a potentially weight-drained, fragile novice (champion or not) going in against a genuine world class fighter whose had months to prepare doesn't enthuse me one bit.

I agree. It's a fight that's obviously been made to save the bill and every credit to him for taking the fight at short notice but I can't see anything other than a successful first defence for Cleverley.
Re: Cleverly vs Bellew....CONFIRMED!!!!
I also said he shouldn't and still do, he will be brought down to earth with a huge bang on saturday when he sees and feels Nathans power.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:When Tony was asking if he should fight Cleverly on here, I think I was the only one who said he shouldn't.Cardiff-Lad1 wrote:Ian, which way do you see this going? you may already have stated but today has been a long day and its all blurred into one, ever since it was announced the German had pulled out!Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote: What would be the risk? I hope I am wrong, not that I want bad of Clev (I want a good fight) but Clev vs Bellew is a potentially good fight DOWN THE ROAD. Not now, though. Too soon. No disrespect to Bellew intended, but this shouldn't be a world title fight. Bellew has only fought in commonwealth title fights and two of those on paper it was largely said shouldn't have been sanctioned. He is not (at the moment) even the 2nd best Light Heavy in the Uk.
It could spoil a nice fight a year or so down the line.
He's as game as they come, a real fighter. However, not so long ago he said he is a few fights away from Clev.
Completely agree, Ian. Hope I am wrong though.

The promoter wants to make us aware that there are 'inaccurate articles' on the internet?
What a guy!
Re: Cleverly vs Bellew....CONFIRMED!!!!
It was too good to be true! Hopefully it happens as Kenny Anderson can't fight for a world title that would be a joke!

Re: Cleverly vs Bellew....CONFIRMED!!!!
It is all subject to the check weight tomorrow, if Bellew is within a reasonable level (no more than 5lbs) he will be named as the opponent at a live f2f
Re: Cleverly vs Bellew....CONFIRMED!!!!

I was just pointing out that there is still doubt abt the opponent despite others saying that it is "confirmed" - believe me, I hope Bomber gets his chance!!Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:Oh right, so glad your site is providing this service.Superheavy wrote:No opponent yet for Cleverly: http://www.boxingnews24.com/2011/05/no- ... -cleverly/![]()

Has bellew not been on 'stand bye' for a while
We all had a feeling the kraut would pull out... I'm sure FW had the same doubts!

Re: Cleverly vs Bellew....CONFIRMED!!!!
His eyes never rolled, it was a stability issue that. It was obvious, he took a bomb from Ovil and got straight back up, no chin issues IMO. I think he belongs in the higher divisions with a thicker base which will stop him toppling over so easily.kingfinn wrote:Its the punch he took from ovil that makes me think clev cant ko him. Bellew hit the canvas like a brick with his eyes still open and got straight back up again, that was freakish!taffytoon wrote:Bob put him down, Ovill put him down Clev will stop himkingfinn wrote:a very interesting british bill now. i cant see clev koing bomber, its either a clev points win or a bomber ko.
Nice to see some fighters dont just talk about fights they want.

so hope this happens. 2 great british grudge matches on one bill. both probably lead to rematches down the line. brilliant if it happens if Tony is in shape

Cleverley foolish for taking this fight. All that sparring pissed down the drain. Frank should have had a southpaw replacement on standby just in case
