If Degale wins... will he demand PPV status ?

Whilst FW has long since said these 'babies' shouldnt be on PPV so soon until their household names is correct,

I'm just wondering if there will be a trend for all of Degales fights to head down this road in the future.

Naturally Groves has a lower profile and perhaps if victorious couldn't command that.

I recall the other Olympian fighting on PPV with a poxy inter-continental strap.

He will most likely be on PPV most of the time, but not on his own he will need something backing him up for a few more fights

in answer to your question, i think Degale will go PPV with his first 'world title shot' and not before.

DeGale is on very good money already and should hopefully realise that moving onto PPV is only really worth it if you've got the fan base in place which he clearly hasn't at the minute. If he gets involved in some good, exciting fights and keeps up his PR exercise with the casual fans then there is going to be a much bigger pot of gold at the end of his rainbow

Hype and Fiasco - yes.

He didn't have the full hype of Sky..... how many times if you watch SSN or any sky channel have you seen the "this is it" advert. Its been on all the time. There was no commercial for the Khan fight.

Fair do's to Sky, they did continue the ringside promotion - but no mention of the TV channel - but anyway, the point I am making it is the TV adverts who what makes a PPV sell extra well. Ringside and reports on sky's boxing shows is just going to get the hardcore figures.

Yep it was in the majority of the papers, but it wasn't exactly good press..... it was "this is the fight that Sky think is too shit to make any money from". In this case I think the scenario of all publicity is good publicity.... he might have won a few extra customers cause of the media than if it quietly went to primetime sure, howevwer it would have sold far more had it remained on sky IMO

Khan vs Maidana was part of a bill that had fallen appart and was at 3 am in the morning. Sky don't even consider Manny Pacquiao a PPV star yet. Pacquiao came over to the UK to fight McCloskey it would be a PPV event sure.
