A number of those who had championed him and blown smoke up his arse appeared to turn their coats inside out in the immediate aftermath. I don't like fickleness and would hate to see a similar scenario play out if Tony is comprehensively outboxed.

In November 2010, David Haye fought Audley Harrison in a defence of his WBA World heavyweight title. This weekend Nathan Cleverly will fight Tony Bellew in a defence of the WBO light heavyweight title the Welshman was recently awarded.

I distinctly remember a significant number of people on this forum getting very excited about the Haye vs Harrison fight only to be more than a tad disappointed when it turned out to be a mismatch. "Never again will be lured in by the pre-fight hype" they said...

I await Sunday morning with interest. Tony Bellew was right to call for this fight, it may well be the only opportunity he gets to fight for a world title and I'm sure he'll be paid handsomely for the privilege. In the event that he is comprehensively beaten, I'd urge those of you who are virtually fellating him now to remember that he has taken the fight at late notice, will have drained weight quickly and is pretty much relying on a powerful right hand to win. I know you'll all say "of course we will" before the event. Please don't change tack and mention being "ripped off", "exposed", "all mouth and no trousers" etc etc... come Sunday. If you buy the PPV and are left with a sour taste in your mouth, you've nobody to blame but yourself.

There were more than 1 or 2 who enjoyed winding Smith up and loved it as he reacted; I'm not sure that anyone was down on him for losing to a very good boxer. I thought that he'd out man DeGale but he didn't; he were pretty funny on here and had some good put downs. I think you are right and some have been more upset that he doesn't post anymore.

I think Smigga turned a lot of people off by not giving DeGale any credit after the fight, to be honest. It's ingrained in the British mentality that we expect winners and losers to be sportsmanlike. If you win you don't belittle the other man, if you lose you give the other man the credit he deserves. As a nation we don't want to hear a load of sour grapes from a loser, it just isn't British.

It's a win/win for Bellew, his best chance of beating Cleverly is in the first 4 rounds, and that doesn't change with the short notice sure he'd do better with more notice but then Clev would of been able to get ready for him. I fancy Clev to outclass him and work him over before stopping him around the 8th and I would predict the same with 4 months notice!!

I can understand the man on the street getting more fired up for a fight because they can understand the language both fighters are speaking during the pre-fight hype conferences. I (wrongly) thought that those who follow the game a little closer would be capable of being a little more calculated and discern the superior quality of the match-up that has fallen by the wayside.

i think this match is a guarnteed tear up....the breahmer match would have been more cagey i feel...
