What else could Groves do? Any kind of refusal would've been taken as a clear sign that he doesn't fancy his chances. That's a huge psychological edge to give up this close to the fight.

It's not as though Degale would've kept his big gob shut long enough for Groves to explain that he's up for it, but knows it's a risk and therefore not something to be betting large sums of money on.

Degale would've had the fight won right there if Groves had've declined, Booth couldn't get between them either because that's tantamount to saying he has no faith in his man. Wazza should've intervened.

I can see a very wide points win, along the lines of 10-2. I really want George to win but they're at different levels.

I think people are overrating DeGale's power, he doesn't seem a big puncher at all to me I think he outclassed Smith for 9 rounds before stopping him, it was more accumulation. Dilks he just overwhelmed. And Horton doesn't have a great chin. Groves' chin isn't as bad as DeGale says, sure it's not granite but it's hardly china either! I think Booth is one of the best trainers/cornermen in Britain and agree he has installed 100% confidence in Groves

That's happened before; I can remember a wager been made and afterwards the winner of the bout said that the other man had fought hard and earned his money. I can't remember who it was, though I am sure someone on here will know.

yeah a master trick by degale, groves was put on the spot, what else could he do but accept given he had no way of talking his way out and booth sat there like a lame bum and allowed his man to be upstaged.

I really think under booth we are witnessing the ruination of a great british prospect.

Groves is a talented tough kid who should be allowed to develop at his own pace. Instead booth isnt protecting him. Booth talks to groves like a piece of shit if the anderson between rounds stuff was anything to go by, what exactly does booth have to offer by way of traing to a talent like groves, and why is he being beaten up in sparring by the likes of dirrel at this stage 12 fights into a promising career?

If booth is worth his cut he will excuse groves of this bet and yes he can use the, well get better odds at the bookies stuff.
