George Groves vs....
George Groves vs....
Who is next for St Groves...
This kid has massive support now. I reckon 2 more wins and he is bona-fide PPV material if he can do it.

Rematch. Makes absolute sense.
Groves-Degale II + Cleverley-Bellew will do very good numbers.

Re: George Groves vs....
I wouldn't mind seeing him in with Brian Magee! Maybe a bit early but in the words of Hayemaker 'a calculated risk' imo
Re: George Groves vs....
in a rematch i think Degale would win, but Groves should move onto Magee next

Re: George Groves vs....
Not if he adopts a backfoot counter-punching style fulltime. I would like him to keep it but I like watching that kind of boxing - many don't.carlbcfc wrote:Who is next for St Groves...

Who next - bring over a decent if slightly shopworn American over 10 rounds.
Re: George Groves vs....
Magee or Abrham
Re: George Groves vs....
Abraham would KO Groves. That is too big of a step up at this point.

agreed!
Abraham has the fully grown man strength that Groves aint got yet.
Re: George Groves vs....
I don't want to see an immediate rematch - although I guess the numbers will dictate. I would like to see him back on "normal" sky - build a fan base.
I think Kenny Anderson is owed a rematch, Kenny was a last minute subsitute and gave George all kinds of problems. That would be my next fight.
Then I would build him on towards the EBU title and then in 12 months time - Steiglitz.... then see where Degale is at.
Remember, most like the underdog and most are happy with the result - but it was a dull sparring session for the most part.

Re: George Groves vs....
Someone like Brinkley would be decent for next opponent, unless he wants to defend the British

Allan green?
Re: George Groves vs....
Still think it's a bit soon to be sticking George in with serious world-level operators. Someone like Jesse Brinkley, if Groves could keep the British title, would be interesting. A rematch with Kenny Anderson would do him no harm either.
He should let DeGale stew
He should let DeGale stew
Re: George Groves vs....
Coming off such a high profile win there is a danger of people wanting to see him moved too fast. Remember despite the publicity it was for the British title against a guy with ten fights and he won by the narrowest of narrow margins.Bennyblanco wrote:Allan green?
Allan Green at this stage would be crazy talk.
Re: George Groves vs....
fornicate rematch after the way he showed him up but groves came ou the man wants to fornicate him off but money talks there s plenty of fights out there to build himself up to better things but take my hat off to the guy i didnt havin him havin a chance mind

Re: George Groves vs....
Allan Green? Abraham? No way! The kid is still a work in progress and has only has 13 fights. He is nowhere near ready for that level. I think the following would be suitable opponents for his next fight;
Paul Smith

Tony Quigley (Though maybe he needs a win under his belt and at super middleweight)

Lolenga Mock (He floored David Haye, despite only being a super middleweight!)

William Gare

Tony Dodson (If he can make weight)

Re: George Groves vs....
I Would head him down the European route personally.
Wilczewski holds the European crown and he is very very beatable, Groves would blow him away in 6 rounds for me, Whether they can make the fight is another
thing but if they can thats the route to go, that will be Brit,Comm and European titles, Then either a world crown or make Warren pay for the priviledge of a rematch
for Degale, there ain't no way Groves should sell himself short and I am sure Booth won't let him
If Degale wants it bad enough, switch the purses around and let Degale fight for Groves money and give Groves Degales purse this time.

Re: George Groves vs....
I'd love it if he were a popular, charismatic and exciting fighter that fought off PPV. I sincerely hope that PPV diminishes; for domestic and ordinary World Title bouts I cannot see the reasoning for it.carlbcfc wrote:Who is next for St Groves...

Re: George Groves vs....
Don't wanna see a DeGale rematch yet. Anderson is the perfect opponent, and he said he'd box Groves for free!

Re: George Groves vs....
Peter Manfredo Jr - would do wonders for his stateside profile, plus he'd win comfortably
