James DeGale premature celebration

Post by hayemaker »

Anyone unearthed this little gem yet?

When Jimmy Lennon says still undefeated he started jumping about celebrating like a smug prick then realised he lost 10 seconds later

I actually felt a bit sorry for him there (even though I don't like him). I thought it was more of a case of him just not being very clever rather than being arrogant on that occasion. Very funny tho :OhYes:

It was hilarious and DeGale didn't half have egg on his face. I think the message they received was probably someone telling them Jim Watt scored it for him

To be honest that was bloody outrageous of Jimmy Lennon Jnr to announce it like that.

A straight, 'the winner.... (PAUSE)... and new/still' would suffice. Trying to inject more suspense at hands of two lads who've just gone through 12 of the hardest rounds of their lives... he might has well have said "and the winner is.... we'll have to find out after the break!"

Actually no, that would have been completely different. I'm sure Degale and Groves weren't ruined by the extra 2 seconds that they had to wait.

yeah, you really gotta be careful in them scenarios cos they can get quite confusing if we're honest, specially in the heat of the moment.

If Degale celebrated at "still unbeaten" then maybe he never really had enough respect for George Groves as what he should have.

I remember a scenario in 2006 where Michael Hunter defended his British Crown at the Hartlepool Borough Hall vs. Esham Pickering, who whose European ( and also Commonwealth I believe) titles were on the line.

After getting decked in r1 and r2, after 12 rounds of boxing the MC announced......."And STILL British Champion........".........I was the only person in the venue who shouted Yeeeaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh cos Hunter had won ( I'd have felt such a twat if I was wrong but I knew Hunter held the British).....of course 2 seconds later the MC added the words " and the NEW, European and Commonwealth Champion......" at which point the crowd caught up......Point is, unless you either hold the belt or are a fcking anorak enough to know what's going on it can be confusing........Still, more egg on Degale's smug face the better.

Degale is thick. Have you heard the stuff he's come out with in the passed? I believe he forget he was not the only one who had yet to be beaten.

Yeah, just posted the same thing on the Booth thread. Found it funny. Shame they cut out Booth giving camp DeGale the wanker sign.

Absolutely priceless, he did a gay little jig. Just shows how deep his disrespect for Groves runs that he forgot he was in there with someone who was his equal in terms of pro records.
