Anyone actually believe degale isnt potential world class?

Post by Finn »

Im hearing alot of people writting degale off now.

If he gets the experience and training to match his talent he's easily going to achieve world honours.

He didnt really do anything that wrong he just got baffled by groves tactics and style - his team are more to blame for that than him. He's a 11 fight novice not a seasoned pro. I doubt he's even operating at 60% of his potential.

Its not like he got ko'd or schooled he lost by a point.

DeGale is still a class fighter. If these guys meet again, I am not so sure James will win. George will get better, as will James.

George is got a good team and a good attitude, he will do ok.

Everything? Nah, not a chance, he will get better, he is still so young and I tell you for nothing, personal feeling aside, James will struggle to beat him.

Time will tell, but George has alot more to learn.

i'd give a lot of credit to booth, he gave groves a disciplined fight plan and groves snometimes controlled himself to follow it. I was very surprised based on the recklessness he'd shown in earlier fights. but even booth admitted they both have a lot of improvement to do. Froch, Kessler or Ward would destroy either which is where both should be looking

this may be the best thing for degale's development, yes he is a great lover of boxing and gives great support to amateur fighters but it's a selfish business and this hopefully make him realise that fame and celebrity counts for fornicate all

In five years time, Groves will be nowhere. Degale will be everywhere.

Groves just has Degale's number.

If you write him off, you're a dope. People are generally stupid and knee-jerk. DeGale is oozing with ability...HE JUST NEEDS TO LET HIS HANDS GO! When the 2 got into exchanges and DeGale actually decided to flurry, he looked spectactular. He fought a frustrating fight. Let's hope he learns from it. You cant just try and land 1 perfect shot at a time. You're not Bernard Hopkins. You're just a young cat trying to come up, you need to remove the doubts from the minds of the judges. In my opinion, Groves didnt beat DeGale. DeGale beat DeGale by being too gunshy.

DeGale is going nowhere he lost to a big underdog (11/4)! He'll be working in McDonalds next week, just like that fella that one the silver medal and got spanked by the Columbian. You can't possibly win a world title after losing so early on in your career! Name me 1 person that has :KO:

He'll recover, but probably needs some changes in his team - Groves fought a good fight, and Degale could not adapt, it was only as Groves tired that he landed some shots. For most of the fight he was stalking and landing awkward looking shots.

I've said from day one that Degale can be confused when things aren't going is way.

I personally thought Groves was a comfortable winner - Degale is always going to be a difficult fighter to look good against, and still has a very bright future in the game - However, a skilled boxer with fast hands is always going to give him problems.

DeGale was horribly arrogant & did not prepare properly.

Groves, on the other hand took this fight seriously, did his homework & prepared properly.

Had DeGale done a little less talking & goading & a bit more homework, he probably would have won.

DeGale will come again: at least he will know next time that you cannot cut corners in the fight game.

Degale was proven to be a bully, he had no plan B and no way of adapting to how the fight was going and the tactics employed by groves et al. Chunky has more talent than groves, that is without question, but he must let his hands go on fight night or we will get another audley harrison. perhaps the occasion got to james? it took him about 6 rounds to get going!!..... but by that time all george needed to do was nick a couple of the last 6 and the fight was his. i feel the judges scorecards will reflect this.

Some people went way overboard on DeGale before the fight. Now Groves has won by one point and people are going overboard the other way.

Beware the bandwagon.

The Anderson fight done Groves no harm at all. He showed his resolve whereas DeGale had things all his own way as a pro. This will hopefully bring him down to earth. I'm sure he'll come back a better fighter.

I definetly see him coming back a better fighter ala Amir Khan

everything his own way for so long then BAM Brendis Prescott, although Degales loss was only by a point it may humble him, force him to rethink and make him come back stronger.

They were both poor. Imagine what Froch would do to them. The mind boggles :o

Degale doesn't seem like the sharpest tool in the shed but has bags of talent. He needs a stronger corner though. This fight indicated that he might not have the head to change his game-plan during the fight and needs more from his corner.

These were exactly my thoughts. Degale looked like he could have done a lot more, whereas Groves gave everything he had, and was hurt a couple of times.

I think groves was fortunate to get the win, but neither man is going to trouble genuine world class. I'm excluding fighting unranked bums for WBO belts. They might manage that with careful management, but as far as far as making an impact on world level... come on! Enough with the blinding patriotism, both these men would be cannon fodder for Bute, Froch, Kessler, Abraham et al.

Groves is 2 years younger than Degale, hasnt got the man strength yet. Plus His pscyhcodinamics arnt as ingrained as Degales, Degales punch mechanics are poor, and will be hard to improve on, too many years doing it wrong.
