Should groves give degale a rematch ?????
What would he gain by beating degale again (apart from £££) he should have a few defences ,keep the belt and move on to European then world honours. He's got the fans got the abillity to be world champ no doubt.

Nope. Onwards and upwards for El Saint. He's beat him twice now and if i were him i wouldnt give him a rematch cos it will piss DeGale off even more. Haha hoho hehe etc
Re: Should groves give degale a rematch ?????
no chance, degale would never have given george a rematch. degale will have to learn to live with it, his big mouth let him down, ugly boy beat him.....lol

Re: Should groves give degale a rematch ?????
It's a strange one for me, this question.
On the one hand, I say yes, as the fight was very very close, but on the other hand, I say no, a DeGob's arrogance probably cost him the fight & what would be the point of the 2 of them fighting again immediately, when both can advance their careers & potentially meet again further down the line.

I wonder if DeGob is going to give 'ugly kid' (his words, not mine) his purse? :surprised:rhino222 wrote:no chance, degale would never have given george a rematch. degale will have to learn to live with it, his big mouth let him down, ugly boy beat him.....lol

If degale had won by 1 point he and warren would never give groves a rematch. Fck them!!!
Groves leave him in your shadow.

Re: Should groves give degale a rematch ?????
Hopefully they will fight again at some point, but I don't want to see an immediate rematch. Last night showed that they are at very similar levels at the moment I think a rematch would be very close again.
I'd like to see them fight again in a year or two when they've both developed further.

George should be able to push forward on the back of a very good, and unexpected win; (where are all the experts now?)MachoMan09 wrote:Groves should not give DeGale a rematch any time soon. If he does, he's a fool. Nor should the Board order a rematch.
DeGale and Mr W arren would not give a rematch if DeGale had won, not a chance.
One or 2 highly successful promoters seem to have a lot of clout with the BBBoC; if Mr W arren pushed he could probably influence a decision (IMO).
I'm not convinced that the card was a PPV worthy one.
Re: Should groves give degale a rematch ?????
If I were Groves, I wouldn't be giving a rematch any time soon. This defeat with really hurt Degale psychologically for a long long time so why give him an immediate opportunity at redemption? This defeat could make or break Degale and if I were Groves I'd let Degale stew for a couple of years before even considering a rematch and then only if Degale has a world title.
Re: Should groves give degale a rematch ?????
Please no rematch it was a terrible fight.
Re: Should groves give degale a rematch ?????
Yes; as pleased as I am for George Groves it weren't the best bout to watch.McCannW14 wrote:Please no rematch it was a terrible fight.
Re: Should groves give degale a rematch ?????
I think both had too much at stake mentally, rather than career-wise, for it to be an uninhibited fight...simon fox wrote:Yes; as pleased as I am for George Groves it weren't the best bout to watch.McCannW14 wrote:Please no rematch it was a terrible fight.

No, as many have said DeGale wouldn't give a rematch and other than the purse Groves wouldn't benefit from a rematch.
Can't see it happening either (in the near future)

I think it will drive degale absolutely crazy if he couldn't get a rematch and it will eat away at him for ever and it may well shatter his confidence too

A rematch for the European title or a World title would be huge so there is no need to rush straight into a rematch. Much like Benn and Eubank lets let it boil for a few years. Not saying the rivalry is as big as Benn and Eubank or either guy will go on to be as good as either Eubank or Benn, but the rematch will be big if they progress their careers for a few years.

Re: Should groves give degale a rematch ?????
An instant re-match would not be good, the fight next time round would be bigger if both these fighters acheive world rankings. Warren wouldn't give a rematch and I think he needs some time to get the public to like degale agian so he would be able to PPV him.

no sense in a rematch for now, let's see how their careers pan out first. Who knows what will happen.
If both are european or world champions in a few years, lets see them fight then, not now.

Nope, if he does then he wastes a year of his career for no further recognition.
Maybe the reason W_rren is desperate for the re-match is down to the recently agreed contract between himself and Chunky

Re: Should groves give degale a rematch ?????
lets not forget groves was about 10 seconds away from getting blown out by underprepared domestic level fighter in Kenny Anderson.
Id like the rematch because I see Groves losing before getting to European honors.

Re: Should groves give degale a rematch ?????
Kenny Anderson is well known as a very capable and game boxer. If he were properly prepared he'd give Degale or anyone else in Britain/Commonwealth, In boxing you get smacked and hard. If James had gone through such an experience he may have been better for it.lefthook82 wrote:lets not forget groves was about 10 seconds away from getting blown out by underprepared domestic level fighter in Kenny Anderson.

Re: Should groves give degale a rematch ?????
Wilczewski holds the European crown and he is very very beatable, Groves would blow him away in 6 rounds for me, Whether they can make the fight is another
thing but if they can thats the route to go, that will be Brit,Comm and European titles, Then either a world crown or make Warren pay for the priviledge of a rematch
for Degale, there ain't no way Groves should sell himself short and I am sure Booth won't let him
If Degale wants it bad enough, switch the purses around and let Degale fight for Groves money and give Groves Degales purse this time.
Easy this matchmaking lark.
