Distasteful? Yes.
Disrespectful? Yes.
Innapropriate? Probably.
But........it certainly helped build interest in what was basically a domestic scrap between two novices - particularly amongst those who usually wouldn't take an interest.
Let's go easy on the villification. Maybe James really is a prick; or maybe it's a persona he adopts to help promote his fights. Ive never met the guy so can't comment. But sometimes you need a pantomime villain (Eubank?).
Let's hope this is a rivalry that will run and run.
Degale's pre fight conduct...
Re: Degale's pre fight conduct...
He's a prick imo. Has 'school bully' written all over him!! Will be funny when he looks around and sees he's lost a few hangers on since he lost.

Possibly. My point is that him acting the pantomime villain was good box officeTheCobra wrote:He's a prick imo. Has 'school bully' written all over him!! Will be funny when he looks around and sees he's lost a few hangers on since he lost.

It was good box office once, but Eubank's pantomime villain act worked in the long term because he could back it up in the ring with some incredible performances. People wont keep paying to see a 'villain' lose without throwing many shots, apart from maybe to laugh at them.RJP wrote:Possibly. Well, he wasn't acting that is the point. It's clearly his persona.RJP wrote:Possibly. My point is that him acting the pantomime villain was good box officeTheCobra wrote:He's a prick imo. And bragging about ho he used to 'beat up' George in every sparring session and George was also in his shadow. Yes pal, Groves was almost 3 years younger than you tough guy.
Beating up a 15 year old when you're 18 makes you a right big man.
Bully by his own words
