Groves tw*tty interview on Sky -he really thinks he is Haye!
Did anyone catch his words on the Sky interview
You would think he stood Degale on his head the way he was talking. Not just the words, but the mannerisms annoyed the hell out of me
He really does think he is Haye. I suspect he'll get beaten before a rematch happens (if its in a couple of years) making it a bit worthless so I would like to see it very soon

"I schooled him again"
Hardly, the only reason people haven't gone on about degale getting robbed is because he made a c*nt out of himself in the build up before the fight

Close fight that could have gone either way.

The same could be said of the smith-Simpson fight but I recall some serious griping over that.MachoMan09 wrote:DeGAle didn't get 'robbed'. Nothing of the sort. It was a very tight match that could've easily gone either way. That's why people haven't griped about the result.

Ok so robbed Was a strong word but, if degale came over as a decent lad before the fight people might have more to say about the result IMODeno1986 wrote:Degale didn't get robbed.Bennyblanco wrote:"I schooled him again"

Give him a chance and a break, he's just won the biggest fight of his career against an Olympic medallist. 23 isn't grown up these days in the way it might have been 25 or 50 years ago
Re: Groves tw*tty interview on Sky -he really thinks he is Haye!
Robbed my arse, the fact that all 3 judges were within a point of each other and 2 of the commentator's card shows that the result was a legitimately close one. I had Groves by a point, he did enough early on and drew at least another round because DeGale wouldn't fecking commit himself. And I'm pretty sure that 'schooled' is meant to piss off DeGale some more; I don't think their animosity's gone anywhere since the fight thanks to Degale's classlessness in defeat (although honestly Groves should've stuck to acting above it all as he did pre-fight)
Re: Groves tw*tty interview on Sky -he really thinks he is Haye!
Exactly. He has had to endure months of Degales piss-taking and smugness so Groves is entitled to feel made up for himself after winning the fight.BIGMARK wrote:cut the guy some slack, he has just won a fight that nobody thought he was going to win, remember Boxing Monthly had it 29-2 against him in their poll. I think he is allowed to smug and imagine once he re-watches it he will see how close it really was. Yes he no doubts is effected by Haye but he is a 23give him a break

Groves wasn't some quiet lamb. He more than held his own in the pre-fight shenanigans

Can't believe folk are saying it's a robbery!! It was a close fight that could of went either way. Another thing I don't like is people saying Groves has DeGale's number, I feel this takes credit away from a superb gameplan executed brilliantly.
Re: Groves tw*tty interview on Sky -he really thinks he is Haye!
Also people saying groves thinks he is Haye What about jimmy mac i was at the press conference and jimmy was whispering in james ear the whole way through They were not the words of Degale he was like a puppet just repeating what Jimmy Mac said It was a bit embarrassing I interviewed James after in a piss take interview and he is a throughly nice lad and needs to show more of that side to him and drop the cocky stuff.
George Groves and Team Hayemaker couldnt do enough and if i,m honest I have never met Adam Booth until yesterday and I didnt expect him to be as nice as he was he has his own ideas and is a straight talker He doesnt just just fall into line with everyone else He has his own ideas and no one can say he isnt doing a good job with Groves and Haye George acted a lot more mature than his age It was a close fight But groves deserved to win But Eddie Hearn i still dream about you every night

Warrens coments on his website are embarrassing
the fact is not one of the judges saw it for Degale so groves more than deserved this win
didnt school him no but he beat an olympic champion who was more than the favourite to win
Warren says that hes not heard anyone say that Groves deserved it
im surprised at that - maybe Boxchats internet has been cutt off

After all the ribbing & disrespect he has copped from DeGob in recent months, I'm certainly not going to be down on him for being smug & overhyping himself after the win.
Groves deserves his moment & if DeGob had any class whatsoever, he'd agree.
PS: Has DeGob given Groves his purse yet? :P
Re: Groves tw*tty interview on Sky -he really thinks he is Haye!
leave it to u to sum it up best huh big man? Well put.......george earned the right to gloat for all the nasty comments and doubters (including me) he had to put up with.BIGMARK wrote:cut the guy some slack, he has just won a fight that nobody thought he was going to win, remember Boxing Monthly had it 29-2 against him in their poll. After the fight, at ringside, Booth said that they would let James off the betThe Dark Destroyer wrote:Someone on here said AB had the board stop it after the press conference. Strange if he did that with what he said post fight.Syntax Error wrote: PS: Has DeGob given Groves his purse yet? :P

They're both overrated and their skillset is shocking.
Please go back and watch a Leonard/Jones/Floyd/Pernell fight and see if they ever took shots like these boys have taken throughout their careers.

I'm talking about skills, and I did mean compare at the same number of fights, sorry I omitted that part. The Dark Destroyer wrote:That's a strange comparison. You can't compare green fighters to great fighters, they clearly aren't comparable to any of those guys, but who in the SMW division is right now? No one in the division will go down with those lot. It doesn't mean they can't go on to be world champions.
Look at those fighters directly after the Olympics and compare them with those fighters now if you want. The standards in this sport have gone down massively.
Re: Groves tw*tty interview on Sky -he really thinks he is Haye!
Sorry mate, but if you win Olympic gold, then you're on that "great" trajectory.
This is a fundamental argument about skills i.e. defence, aesthetics. James Degale and Groves looked like they were still fighting in the ABAs.

The comparison is ridiculous. You just pick names out of the air as your favourite fighters and who is comparing either to those 4?
All 4 had the silver spoon treatment and still did not come through totally unscathed.
Whitaker was knocked down by Rafael Williams and Roger Mayweather early in his career, so clearly he did get hit and he was supposedly the greatest defensive boxer of the modern age.
"Skillset is shocking" - what a ridiculous remark
Re: Groves tw*tty interview on Sky -he really thinks he is Haye!
Christ. How is the comparison ridiculous? Degale is an olympic gold medallist ffs. And so what if Whitaker got knocked down? How many shots like that did Whitaker take like these boys have regularly taken in his first 10-15 fights?gobbles wrote:Gray-Fox wrote:They're both overrated and their skillset is shocking.

LOL @ thinking getting KD (and getting straight back up unhurt) from Roger Mayweather is bad...you're one of them guys that only started watching boxing when Amir Khan won his silver medal, and thinks Pacquaio is top 5 of all time.
