It may be that Paul Smith the scouser boxer may be getting slated for something he has not done. If it turns out that people have gone off on one about something that Smith didn't do then people should own up to it. (I think that was the point that Jbacca was making, that is how I read it.)

Smigga is a pillock who can't take criticism and complains about people taking swipes at him when he does the same thing. A flat track bully if you will.

If anyone represents all that's wrong with matchmaking this decade it's Paul Smith. Heavily protected, padded and eased into soft title matches - a career built on stats, rather than standout wins or learning fights. This guy lost to Steve Bendall, for Christ's sake.

That would all be fine, of course, if he Smith wasn't arrogant enough to think he was the reincarnation of Julio Cesar Chavez. Both Groves and DeGale would have beaten Smith on their pro debuts.

I don't think you can question his dedication, Paul was a very popular dj & producer, which he packed in for boxing.

As for his ability his last 3 fights at super middleweight have been pretty poor. Interesting to see how he fairs with a new trainer and in a new weight division.

Also I would assume he was in the degale camp due to him being friends with degale. And as someone said above groves winning makes smith's performance against degale look poor. If Degale had won well his performance wouldn't of looked as bad.

He's always been a capable boxer, and a good British level fighter.

Some people posting in this thread are making themseleves look like twats.

Paul smith came on this board to post- a good thing- it's always good to have boxers posting.

Seems some anonomous people like to take swipes at him via the forum. Wankers.

Paul Smith is trying to get himself noticed again. Soon as he steps up to fight someone reasonable he will lose again.

Groves WAS lucky.

Had De Gale won, he would have been lucky. Had it been a draw, both fighters would have been unlucky not to nick a win.

In a close fight, with subjective scoring (as is the nature of boxing) then someone will always be lucky by edging a tight decision. Thats just how it is.

I dont doubt his dedication, but its not like he was making big bucks in music - I think he released one track that he co-wrote, and did another remix.

I like Smith as a fighter, interested to see what path he takes now

I reckon a double seat for the dunk; a pick between F W arren, Jim McDonnell and James DeGale; who doesn't get dunked gets put in the stocks :(
