How great was saturday night?

1) Groves manic expression of concentration for the full 12 rounds, knowing one slip could see him obliterated. Always moving and always throwing punches - that man deserves a long stay in bed for the rest of the week
2) DeGales petulance and just total bad sportsmanship - you know losing to Groves as an amateur has done his head in - hopefully he comes back and puts it behind him - he is good enough.
3) Tyson Fury ripping his shirt off to reveal his 'David Hasselhoff in Baywatch' physique and making Dereck Chisora 'give best' before security usher him out of the room - luckily daddy wasn't there to gouge anyones eye out.
4) Fwank Warren crying after the main event.
5) Murray and Mitchell throwing out gang signs - or so it seemed!
6) That Sam Sexton DIDN'T box Hastings Rasani.

Have I missed anything else?

Yes. I went to the O2 on Saturday and was amazed to see everyone sat in their seats drinking. It genuinely made my night, sat with a few pints watching the boxing.

Bringing your drink to your seat made sure that more people saw more fights and probably lead to them actually drinking LESS!

Is it a coincidence that there was less trouble at this fight than many other similar large bills recently.

I think this show will be very damaging for Frank.

I personally can't see my self attending any more of his shows in the near future or paying for his PPV rubbish. Reasons being:

- Degale will have to take a step back wards plus big question marks over his quality and attitude.
- The average boxing fan, is getting fed up with Cleverly's opponents. Plus Clev wants to fight in wales.
- Frankie Gavin - Good technical boxer, but the fans don't want to watch that sh**.
- If Chisora beats Fury??? what next for him, he'll have to go to America.
- Mitchell v Murray, slightly interested, can't say it will send any pulses racing tho.

Sam Sexton and Paul Smith can't see getting above dosmestic level.

Overall the o2 is a great venue, but the 2 complaints I would have about Saturday night were:

1) The bar shut at 11. I got mighty thirsty during the main event.
2) There's only one underground line that goes there. Not sure there's much they can do about that though! But we had a 'mare going to & from the venue cos a section of the Jubilee line was closed

But on the plus side I was in the nosebleed seats and I feared that we'd need a telescope to tell the fighters apart, but the view from up there isn't actually that bad

I thought that myself. The atmosphere was nowhere near as intimidating as it can get in the North, and i speak as a Yorkshireman. The only bother i saw was the north's very own Tyson Fury carrying on! Really impressed with The O2 all round, really.

I saw quite a lot of trouble to be honest, about 3 fights break out during the show, not including the Fury carry on, and one in the bar afterwards. Everything I saw close up was quite pathetic mind you, nobody that could fight or made me worry for my safety. I remember the Haye-Maccarinelli fight at the same venue and you weren't allowed to take your beers to the seats so there was a lot of blokes beering it up, we missed most of the undercard, and there was a general menacing atmosphere with trouble breaking out sporadically. Also I remember you couldn't smoke but eventually fellas just lit up and there was so many nasty lumps versus normal O2 security that nobody did anything. On Saturday there seemed to be more 'proper' security types and a lot of old bill kicking about too. So I think they've really improved on things there.

With regards to the O2 in general, I don't particularly like all the plastic bars and places to eat, the weird oppressive roof over everything makes it feel like you're in Total Recall (it would just be nicer to sit outside) and there's about two cash points for the entire place. Don't like the sniffer dogs and the metal detectors at the front entrance either. Like I said, it's kind of oppressive.

Nah, sniffer dogs and metal detectors is better than hatchets in my noggin and coked up wide-boys growing an inch and a half a stone with every snort.

I was actually really impressed with the venue. Service was good and hopped straight on a tube after a couple of cheeky pints after. If you dont like the plastic bars then get off the tube a stop early and enjoy a tipple.

I stayed down in a hotel at the EXCEL afterwards - whats a stupid spot for an arena! Plenty of hotels but how do you gets 1,000's of people there and back?

i hear that the intervals between fights were about half hour & fans were getting bored & just staying at the bars & that 3 bouts got scrapped because the show exceeded 11 o'clock.
frank is running a greedy ship that fans aint enjoying.

Where? At Canary Wharf or Canning Town? I aint really into anywhere round there to be honest being a North London boy. Not big on that bit of London. I f*cking hate Bermondsey! (Although I've got family there) I remember a half decent boozer in Canada Water that I went into a couple of times I suppose.

Haha yeah I think I know EXACTLY the birds you're talking about. We clocked them too. Group of about five or six birds, crazy fake tans, 'sexy' outfits: We were like, "they seriously could be in drag." They looked that full on ridiculous.
