outside of Lucas, beyer, mundine, drews and maybe Flores all of greens opposition has been shit aswell. If anything lebedev has had better competitionscottearley123456 wrote:crusader wrote:Flores was given an opportunity to fight Adamek for the IBF and Ring magazine titles, but he turned that opportunity down. What has he done that would make them afraid?Brute wrote:Beating somebody rated above another fighter is one thing. beating him is another. Boxrec ranks Flores above Alexeev.
The only reason BoxRec ranks Flores higher than Alexeev at this moment is because Flores went the distance with Green, while Alexeev was knocked out in two by Lebedev. A fighter loses more points for losing by KO than they do for losing by decision, and the earlier the KO occurs the more points they lose. Going into each respective bout Alexeev was ranked higher than Flores was.
If we are going to use BoxRec ranking as the basis for a fighter's merit then I will point out that Lebedev is ranked nine spots higher than Flores. In addition, Lebedev has already defeated and been highly competitive with better opponents than Flores has. I therefore don't see why Lebedev needs to "test" himself against Flores prior to a possible Green fight. I understand that over the last five years Flores has been the only fighter to go the distance with Green, but that is more of a testament to Green’s opposition than Flores' ability.
According to BoxRec, Green and Lebedev are ranked third and fourth respectively. If Green beats Tarver, a fight with Lebedev makes a lot of sense for all parties. For Green it would represent another step up, and it would silence the critics who say that he hasn't been fighting the best cruiserweights. I love it when two of the top fighters in a division square off. It's good for the fans and boxing in general.
with the exception of his last five or six fights lebedevs opposition has been utter shite. and flores turned down the adamek fight because they offerd him $25000 total which he thought was a bit shit considering what most people would get for a title fight, (according to flores anyway)

He beat Macaroni who was coming off a KO loss to Afolabi.
Re: Lebedev-Green
True, but Enzo had been dominating Afolabi in that bout, and Enzo also went on to capture the European title a short time later. In various threads many people have mentioned that Green was an underdog going into his bout with Jones, so it's worth pointing out that Lebedev was also considered an underdog when he faced Enzo.Brute wrote:He beat Macaroni who was coming off a KO loss to Afolabi.
Holes can be picked in pretty much everyone's record. For example, Paul Briggs was coming off 3 years out of boxing when he fought Green, and Siaca was coming off a fight at 160 when he fought Green at CW. If we want to get real picky it can also be pointed out that Eric Lucas was coming off a loss when Green beat him, and Green lost to arguably the two best fighters he faced in Beyer and Mundine. None of this, however, changes the reality that Danny Green is a very good fighter, just as the holes in Lebedev's record or one underwhelming performance don't change the reality that he would be a tough opponent for probably every CW in the world.

Re: Lebedev-Green
I think Green would win this.He has too much movement and skills for Lebedev.
As an aside, its very sad to see Roy Jones keep getting knocked out like this. It's like he doesn't really care if he wins or loses anymore.
I also think Green will have to much for Tarver, and beat him widely on pionts as I don't think Tarver has enough stamina to throw a lot of punches.I hope Green stops him though as he is decent bloke, and Tarver is quite an arrogant chap.
