Before the fight i thought it would be adam booth pulling such stunts. But he was avuncular to groves and like an elder statesman keeping his head in that wise morgan freeman in the shawshank redemption like way, all the way through the press conference, through degales wager, through the fight and between rounds when he was zen like in his calm.........

you've posted about 1000 things since the fight all saying the same thing. Absolute brutal attacks on Jim Mc and DeGale. Whatever their public personas or behaviour around this fight are both decent lads and have given plenty to the game - Jim is a real boxing man 100% and Degale is a huge talent who got it all wrong in what, his 10th fight?

No doubt about it, it looks like their camp got found wanting tactically and there's questionmarks over their future, but disgraced? Outthought by another trainer operating on world level yes. Maybe he wasn't outthought and maybe he just can't get through to James and that's a problem in itself, as what they needed to do was obvious to everyone - Warren said it in his press conference - he needed to step on the gas and get busy and he didnt and from my seat it looked like Jim was telling him that but James was ignoring it.

its a thread title which asks a question arsehole where does it say i categorically think he was disgraced. Regardless Jimmy Mac, as much as I like him, he was acting like a total fool at the presser, shouting at Booth about having a '20 grand' wager.

He also spoke about DeGale winning via 1st round KO. I mean, seriously

He has no one else to blame for the abuse coming his way, I doubt he cares but when you think of Jimmy Mac who trained Danny Williams and you look at this version, you have to ask yourself why make yourself out to be a prat. DeGale was happy pushing himself in that role, under the guise of being 'cool, calm and collected'. Erm no, James, your acted like a tw@t and you got mugged off. That the bottom line.

Seriously, losing in the amatuers then making all that noise with Jim Mac, all that abuse, verbal crap, chatting like a big shot and you lost to him again.

He isn't finished by a long chalk, he is a good trainer, he just didn't come across well in my opinion. Guys like Rob McCracken and Adam Booth don't ever appear to me to crave attention whereas Jim did in my opinion during the build up to this fight. Tactically he was shown up but lets get it right he was shown up by someone who is proving to be one of the best tactical trainers in Britain so there probably isn't any shame in that. He moaned in the post fight press conference that Booth called him a w*nker, well to be honest I felt it was one of those 'you deserved it mate' moments given how he goaded Booth during the press conference with the 'I will have 20 grand with you too.'

Frank is ruthless. He spotted big errors in the corner and it's unlikely he'll not have plans for an overhaul being put together as this is written.

I think a new chief trainer will come into play. Hopefully he will remain part of the team for fitness duties.

Yup, that did not bode well for Jimmy Mac.

Warren will get him removed, which is a shame as I still believe the guy is pretty good, but somewhere along the line he lost his way.

Personally I do not rate him very highly, although I do not know too much about him. He didn't seem to have control of the corner on Saturday and didn't seem to give good instructions to Degale, where as Booth has shone and made himself look amazing. No plan B was worrying and the fact Dean Powell was more vocal at times was even more worrying.

I was surprised when Jim McDonnell got the job in the first place with all the up coming trainers their are in the country plus the established guys like Tibbs in London.

There was one point during the build up when Degale was talking and McDonnell couldn't help himself but to try and excitedly add something and Degale basically stopped him from talking - they certainly don't have the traditional trainer fighter relationship and I agree McDonnell has been more of a cheerleader who lost his way when Degale really needed some calm advise - come in behind the jab, let Groves come to you more, throw the uppercut when Groves looks to hold every time you get close

Somebody mentioned how different the outcome would have been if the trainers had been swapped and for me that says it all
