Yes, that's him. Sharp's father was Paul Sykes who fought for the British heavyweight title back in the late 1970s. Sykes was also an infamous criminal who spent much of his life in jail. There was a documentary made about him some twenty odd years ago called 'Paul Sykes: at Large', or something similar. It focused on Sykes' release from prison and his attempt to integrate back into mainstream society. The documentary is on YouTube if you are interested. I seem to recall Sykes being filmed in the gym doing heavy squats in one scene; it was very similar to the clip of Sharp in the gym last night on 'Strangeways'. I can't help thinking that Sharp was filmed weightlifting as a purposeful link to his father.

I have heard too many stories about Paul to buy into a lot of the stuff wrote in his book. As i have said before, he was a VERY bad man. He met his wife when she was at school and he must have been in his thirties. There is a word for that where i come from.

We'll never know, i'd bet my life on Lenny if it would of been on the cobbles, but in the ring im not sure.

A film about the rivalry between Nigel Benn, Michael Watson and Chris Eubank would be good. They have all had very interesting lives outside the ring as well as the great series of fights between the three.

Terry Marsh could also be a good film. Marines, Boxing champ, Fireman. arrested on an attempted murder charge, tried to become an MP, and i think he now works in the city trading. Quite an interesting life actually.

The question is though... if there was a film made about Benn, Watson and Eubank, which actors would you have playing the boxers?
