Brook V Gavin
Brook V Gavin
Who wins?
I reckon that Brook wins the match of the overhyped fighters.

Re: Brook V Gavin
brook wins easy imo
Re: Brook V Gavin
Gavin should get back down to Light welter
has the Height at Welter but didnt look to have much power against Muttley who wasnt offering much back .
Probably just fights at welter against short notice or long lay off jobs .
Brook right now would be too powerful

Make no mistake, Frankie Gavin is a very talented kid and could have a brilliant future BUT certainly, at this point in time, not at welterweight.
1. He doesn't have the physique yet, if he ever does.
2. He is totally lacking in power at this weight.
3. He relies too much on reflexes as can be seen in the Mutley fight and the commentators saying that because of his reflexes he can get away with doing this, is utter rubbish. True he can against limited opposition but if he is put up against someone like Brook or Khan who have equally fast or even better reflexes than him and who let very powerful punches go at incredible speed and with no telegraphing, he is out cold and no mistake about it. Plus if he keeps beeing put up against poor opposition, his low hands will become a habit which he will find very hard to get rid of.
Frankie needs to campaign at light welterweight as he stated that he intends to do in his post fight interview. Which makes one wonder why F. W arren persuaded him to fight for the W arren Boxing Organisation Inter Continental Title in the first place.
Was their an ulterior motive? If so, what was it? And was it fair and in Frankie's best interests to take such a risk even against a well over the hill opponent?
Frankie has proved that he has real talent and he should be given the time and progressively decent opposition to develop it not used, if he was, or pushed into a division that Frankie himself has stated that he does not intend to compete in.

I have to agree that Frankie may well be better following his own already stated path at light welter. I reckon that this lad could well be a world champion, given the right build up. He has a tremendous amount of natural talent and it would be silly to push him up the divisions too early in his career, unless he has difficulty making the weight at 140.
I am really looking forward to seeing Funtime take and keep the British light welter title. Something that I believe that he can do in 12 months or even less and then move on to bigger things.
The welterweight division can wait until he builds more power to add to his already good speed and footwork.

Re: Brook V Gavin
Gavin was withdrawn from an English title fight with Adnan Amar - he's not likely to be put in the ring against the powerful Brook.

Re: Brook V Gavin
Gavin is nowhere near Brook's level atm. Brook would have way too much power and would win easy

Great points, I reckon that Warren put Gavin forward for this as it was Brook's belt and he was stripped without any notifications...
Brook would destroy Gavin at this moment in time, take that they both fought Michael Lomax, Brook TKO in 3rd i think and Gavin in 7th just shows the lack of power.
Gavin would do well at light welterweight.

Would be at British or Euro level (at best) as neither is going any further than that unless they make some big changes
We'll see how Kell gets on with Lovemore first...he needs a test.

Re: Brook V Gavin
It's power vs skills.
Both have either/or.
Good fight, but unlikely to ever materialise.

Re: Brook V Gavin
WOuld be a good fight- but it wont happen.
Is it just me cause everytime I see Gavin something is wrong with him -ie colds/flus etc. Also missing the weight at Olympics and then at Welterweight less than 3 years later?![[icon_e_confused.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif)

Powder Puff Vs Kell Brook
(Only one winner and it isn't our Brummie friend)
I think Gavin should take on Jennings and see where he is at. Both are with allegedly. It would be easy to make although Jennings is slightly delusional thinking he should be fighting for world titles.

Re: Brook V Gavin
Gavin for me, Brook may have a big advantage in power but Gavin's skills are on a much higher level imo.
I'm surprised at how opinion has changed so much after the Mutley fight. I swear a lot of guys on here would have had Gavin beating both Khan and Bradley a couple of weeks ago

At the end of the day, an ill Gavin dominated a decent fighter at a weight above.
He'll smash his next opponent and people will be saying he'll do Brook easily.
