Kali Meehan v Michael Kirby

seems to have the facts mixed re the kirby v edwards fight but in any event it should be fun to watch meehan v kirby.

I think Meehan will get the KO here but only due to the fact he can obviously train full time, whereas Kirby seems to have the conditioning of a bloke who works a job and fights on the side.

June 24 Southport Sharks.

Didn't think I'd ever see Meehan fight for a WBF title. :shame:

a few days ago the Browne v Tilman fight was listed as for the WBF  ..it seems the other two have stepped in to replace them

Meehan v Kirby...def could be fun

Throughout his career Kali has been a level above Kirby. Only world class fighters (Brewster, Rahman, Chagaev) and a fringe world class fighter (Williams) have been able to defeat him. No disrespect intended to Kirby but he wins this only if Kali has regressed significantly.

Browne/Tillman is listed for Federation belt, which appears to be incorrect, as ol' fart Holyfield is the current champ. Bit of a mess, but I'm sure Ben & Adam will sort it out

Now we have Meehan and Kirby fighting a 12 rounder with no title mentioned.

What a way to run a railroad! :witzend:

12 rounds for the Australian Heavyweight Title?

Kali still holds the IBF Pan Pacific title.

It's for the foundation title again. 12 rounds has to be for a "World" or regional title. Australian titles are ten rounds and State titles 8.
Best thing about ANBF rules is if a champion is KOed in a fight with 3 minute rounds and both men make the weight the title changes hands whether it is over any distance.

Ay boys so what do ya reckon,I'll have a go or what!Tell me how many contenders he's beat and how unbeatable he is for me and bla bla,Do you think any of that will matter when the bell goes ding, ding.I'm gonna have a go!,a real go!and we all know it!I have an immence amount of respect for kali,he is clearly a next level fighter for me,This will be a real yardstick on where I really stand in the world of boxing.I've never promised the world, just went out there and fought some of the toughest s.o.b's out there in aus boxing, nobody can take that away from me,I've never ducked anyone and my activity this year is looking great another 12rounder,brilliant!It's taking these types of chances that brings fighters to the next level, and i've openly critisized people for not backing their words,if I win great,if I lose at least I had a go against the best!
P.s I'm not going in there to lose!

Good luck Michael. Just watch for that overhand right to the temple Kali throws. It has brought a lot of capable fighters undone. :box:

I think this fight will be a close contest. Rhino will be right on Kali's chest the whole fight and im not sure how well Kali will contend with that.

Yeah, I think that's what makes this fight interesting, BenK, I reckon that's a hard style to contend with, and should Rhino come into this fight conditioned, his chin and heart, coupled with that relentless forward march, could give Kali trouble.

I wish you all the best, I hope you take this out, in fact I think you may be in with a shot here, I won't be telling you any thing you don't know in that you'll have to be your fittest here and believe in yourself 100% but you can do it.
