It makes you wonder 'what if' about Setanta doesn't it.

They were really getting behind boxing. The Bunce hour was great, the passion was there, and good quality fights both from the UK/Europe and Stateside were being shown. From memory they had the right balance of presenters/interviewers/reporters/experts

C'mon mate the Bunce hour was low budget crap with a fat insincere man shouting and behaving obnoxiously.Nothing showed me the decline of boxing into a minority sport in this country as that show.

I am with Ezzard, Watt is excellent. He calls it, changes his opinion based on what he sees (like any good commentator should do) and doesn't exhibit the blatant favouritism some do. Losing him would be a massive, massive mistake. Sure he can sound dour, but he talks sense.

Lose McCrory, Nelson, Piper too. I would say Smith too, as he is crap but thats unlikely.

McGuigan is good, he has got even better recently, not sure if that's because of Nelson's rantng and he feels he has to talk some sense into him?

Rosenthal is a sad loss, as he is versatile, knowledgable, cool and composed. He is a genuine boxing fan, too and has a good eye ie spotting when a fighter is hurt etc.....like Watt and McGuigan can (always a sign of a good pundit).


Team - Rosenthal, Watt, Darke & McGuigan. More than enough and the quality is there.

COULDNT AGREE MORE ABSOLUTE DRIVEL IS NELSON AND SMITH IMHO, SMITH COULD BE GOOD BUT HE OVER PLAYS EVERY SINGLE WORD HE SPEAKS TO DRAMITISE IT, JUST SPEAK NORMAL! AND STOP DOING THE SILLY OVER ENTHUSIASTIC EYE STARE.

I also didn't used to like this and never watched it for that reason. In person Bunce is great but I was never a fan of his on TV. In fact I can rememeber watching a Setanta broadcast of a fight on mute!

Team - Rosenthal, Watt, Darke & McGuigan. More than enough and the quality is there.

That's like the Dream team for me.

Yeah, he was great for the early morning jobs as well, nice to hear enthusiasm instead of the old droning we get these days.

It's funny commentary is such a matter of taste isn't it. I love Rosenthal as an anchor and I like Darke and Watt but personally can't stand Rawling's commentary. But I know for a lot of other people he's their absolute favourite.

I bet the poor Sky team's ears have singed and dropped off.

Unfortunately you'll never find a commentator that's going to float everyone's boat.

I like Watt, but he is far too miserable and negative - when the audience is really excited about the fight.

Bunce - i love, but can see how he is perhaps OTT for some other views.

Of the two, I'd prefer the latter myself.

He did a great job with Andy Kerr at the Theophane vs Daws fight, had a great banter and dragged other boxers on screen. It felt like a fight card, rather than a sickly polished product.

Sky however, their camera work, lighting and HD production is the dogs balls though. Top draw equipment and crew deliver that side of things as good as anyone else in the world for me.

Mcguigan and Woodhall are the best pundits for me - no bullshit just say it how it is and obviously very knowledgable...

I read on Twitter from Paul Smith that Nelson needs about 5 takes to get even the most basic line out. Some people are just not cut out for the support presenter gig that he has on Ringside and hes one of them. He seems a good genuine man, but it can be uncomfortable viewing.
I took a long time to warm to Smith but I like him now. He's clearly passionate and knows his stuff although I agree he does get close to the edge of being a bit too 'strange' to take seriously...
Rawlings commentary's good and Watt's Ok for me - however I always like him when he's in the studio on Ringside. You see a different, more controlled side to him which always delivers insightful comments imo.

And as for that voiceover on 'Behind the ropes' - what a joke that is!! Trying way too hard to be like 24/7 and with our accent it just doesn't work!

Yep, on on double bills from two different venue's Rosenthal can double up and do the commentary.

I was quite impressed with Paul Dempsey on the commentary for the Sylvester vs Geale bill - he was on his todd and did a good job I though.

Jamie's likeable, so is fine for a pundit. Tris is more on our page cos he is bang up to date with all the developments.

McGuig's passion always shines through, even though he can get it wrong.

I thought both Carl Froch and Jon Thaxton came across very well when they did the odd bit of punditry for ITV.

Richie woodhall talks a lot of sense i like that hes on sky now.
My main gripe technically isnt skys fault but they should insist maloney uses a good MC.
I dont care for spencer olivers input either
