am i the only person who thinks this is wrong???
Lee fought John Murray and got stopped in 8 rounds, he then gets a commonwealth title shot wins this makes a few defences against the who is who of african nations boxers and paul king then gets this title shot. im sure lenny daws would of liked to be considered for this vacant title or willie lamond, steve williams, jason cook or even nigel wright but no TG gives McAllister the title cause he is scottish and is the only fighter in aberdeen, well this is the only reason i can think of cause he stinks the place out for me. No wonder boxing is getting to be a bit of farce when this sh1t happens. Wouldnt it been a bit more attractive if the vacant title was between say jason cook and williams on the 4th june in cardiff? or willie lamond vs nigel wright? but no McAllister gets it against n african boxer no one in the boxing world has ever heard of.
Lee McAllister light welter commonwealth title???????
Re: Lee McAllister light welter commonwealth title???????
the commonwealth title liek msot titles is seriously devalued now because of these type of situations.
the WBO is rapidly going down too
British title will always have respect as the best generally need to fight the best in Britian
and we get some cracking home shows.
im afraid as we all know these days Fighters make the belts not the otherway around

Agreed, or better still why not some other fighters in the Commonwealth having a shot. Wouldn't it be refreshing if we saw an Aussie vs a Canadian (as an example) have a shot. What about that Mabuzza who just lost the world title fight with Judah - surely he is worthy. Mabuzza vs Olusegan would be great.

Willie Limond not Lamond. For what it'a worth Mcallister was a 2 weight WBU champ. Not alot to shout about i know but he's a big draw in Aberdeen and if his manager/promoter can get him title tilts fair play to him. I'm sure most fighters wouldnt hesitate at all at taking these chances. Lee Mac aint that bad a boxer.fasteddie wrote:am i the only person who thinks this is wrong???

Re: Lee McAllister light welter commonwealth title???????
McAllister has a defence lined up against a Ghanaian and then will hopefully be fighting Limond! That would be a great fight for Scottish boxing imo
Re: Lee McAllister light welter commonwealth title???????
Doesn't do anything for me McAllister but I think the Limmond fight would be interesting
Re: Lee McAllister light welter commonwealth title???????
im not blaming lee if i was a boxer and had the opprtunity i wouldnt knock it back, mcallister is a good boxer, maybe i was abit harsh on the fighter but i just think there are plenty of light welter's that deserve the chance to win a title not some other fighter move up a division and challenge for it then he is in line for other opportunities too like for instance the british belt or european, its just shoking i thinkShadrachSimmo wrote:Willie Limond not Lamond. Re: Lee McAllister light welter commonwealth title???????
totally agree with you on this why does it always have to be british guys vs someone from africa? there are other countries in the commonwealth too.stujones wrote:Agreed, or better still why not some other fighters in the Commonwealth having a shot. Re: Lee McAllister light welter commonwealth title???????
all these interim titles and interconental titles have taken the value off the likes of the commonwealth title,i always thought it went in the order of british commonwealth then european but i think now its commonwealth, area, english(welsh or scottish),british then european. No disrespect to anyone who has won the commonwealth title but how can it be ranked higher when your fighting guys with records of won 11 lost 6 or won 6 lost 0.Gazmac81 wrote:the commonwealth title liek msot titles is seriously devalued now because of these type of situations.

Spot on. The commonwealth title seems like a glorified area title in Britain.stujones wrote:Agreed, or better still why not some other fighters in the Commonwealth having a shot.
