The Wright fight was a gamble Billy, but it hardly backfired did it? No disgrace in that defeat and I bet Smedley learnt more from that than all his other fights put together - means he'll potentially come back stronger and it's perfectly plausible he'll avenge that defeat further down the line. I applaud him and his team for taking the match.
yeah no shame at all and afterwards i said it will have been a good learning fight for him but to jump from the people he had been fighting to Wright??? there was no need for it if a bit of money was spent to get him better opposition in previous fights he could have/would have had a far better chance he was 13-0 and who had he fought? he will have learned more in sparring. but with his style its hard to learn much unless its the real thing cos he would be so awkward to spar
Ah, see where you're coming from.... I think to be fair based on what his dad's said on here it's been incredibly difficult to match him more competitively as they were struggling to get fights :TU:

Very bizarre.

To me it's bizarre, in what way were they 'exposed'? Exposed to good boxers and maybe their wings clipped. Cameron fought someone with a worse record than him, when is it not a good time to do that? Cameron has been exceptional in his post-fight attitude. Smedley did well at times and probably learned more in that hour than the last year. Plus it was a good match for the paying fan.

I think their managers should be applauded.

they were both close fights and fights they needed to progress,ye they lost but nicki wanted to figt someone with experience and do ten rounds,as for changing trainers they both got an option, and if they wanted to do that i would respect their decisions, but trainers dont match fights and both fighters fancied the task, good job nigel wright didnt change his trainers after his defeats innit

I thought he looked pretty decent. The fight was perfect in a sense it highlighted what is currently stopping him being a domestic championship contender just yet. Plenty of stuff to work on and picked some really neat shots. I was impressed.

Ideal fights for Smedley and Cameron, as long as they come on from them. Its no good putting them in those sort of fights if they continue to do the same old thing afterwards.

Brian rose is a good fighter and eric has earnt his shot, but I would go with Rose on that one but I thought liam would beat Eric but that's boxin*lthough I were doin okj uin prediction league, as for nicki iv never seen him as positive in knowing what to do in a ten rounder and he will be back a changed boxer he doesn't want to go down to journey man fights he wants to progress and box the best, most fighters have a little disapointment early on and cum back stronger and better,

Look at jon kays similar record to smedley. Got offered the commonwealth title shot at liam walsh n jumped at the chance gave a great account of himself got stopped in the 10th everybody wrote him off b4 the fight including the sky team n his words wore straight after the fight was iv learned more in them 10rounds than iv done in my previous 14fights altogether.

not like me to spring to the defence of steelcity but he put both his fighters in tough fights and they both came up a bit short but not only will the fighters learn about themselfs so will the trainer not every fighter is gunna get to 49-0 boxing is a game that you learn through expeirences you go through in the ring as long as you can learn from your short comings and dont throw your toys out the pram when you come unstuck you can move forwards the sport is littered with fighters that get to the top because they stick with it when others have given up :box:

Nicki and liam are cousens, and as for changing trainers, lol I have asked nicki many times to go to another gym when we avnt seen eye to eye,as I'd sooner him train and box with someone else than not box at all, and I would have supported him in any decision like I would with any of my boxers who train with us,

I was a bit shocked to hear that Cameron had lost, but it's what we've all been asking for, match prospects tough to keep them on the same sort of learning curve they experienced as amateurs. He's young, it was a close fight and as long as it promotes improvement, then it's a fair trade for an '0' that means nothing if it hasn't been paved with the right fights.

 yeah obviously it would of helped their careers to of had a couple of Latvian lemmings instead. Both boxers lost close competitive fights against good opposition, nothing wrong with that. Its how Cameron and Smedley react to the losses that counts.
Spot on.

The thing is we have not asked for easy fights with liam or nicki, and after speaking with nicki and watchin the replay of his fight, He now knows he got to be bussier and will be as he knows he can do Ten, he would love a rematch with Nigel wright and if he doesn't vacate it I'm sure his management will take it rather than be inactive,
