SUNDERLAND STADIUM LIGHT 3RD JULY FEW PIC

Post by phil5555 »

Where: Sunderland Stadium of Light
When: sunday, July 3rd,

SUMMER RUMBLE @ THE SOL

PROFESSIONAL boxing returns to the Sunderland Stadium of Light with the Summer Rumble on July 3rd.

Promoter Phil Jeffries are delighted to announce that a Northern Area cruiserweight clash between Sunderland's David Dolan and Birtley's Jon-Lewis Dickinson will top the bill.

It is sure to be a mouth-watering encounter with Fannan-trained Dolan – who has twice missed out on the British cruiserweight crown against Rob Norton – and Dickinson out to prove who is top dog in the North East.

Phil Jeffries said: “This is the biggest North East fight in a quarter of a century.

“This fight would be a worthy British title fight and the winner will be in a strong position to challenge Norton.”

Dickinson will be having his first fight since suffering a fractured jaw against Richard Turba in September 2010.

The 25-year-old is out to re-establish his credentials as one of the country's most exciting cruiserweights after capturing the Prizefighter title in April last year.

It's been a frustrating 12 months for Dickinson, who has lost his last two

Summer Rumble will be packed with North East talent, the main support being a bantamweight clash between West Rainton's Martin Ward and former British and European champion Ian Napa.

The show will be on an outdoor stage in front of the Stadium of Light's West Stand.

Jeffries added: “I've had every pro boxer in the North East trying to get on this bill.

“It's an exciting venue and a place that we hope will see some big fights in the future.”

Tickets for Summer Rumble are priced £30 and available from the boxers or from Phil Jeffries by calling 0191 564 0202.

but as far as small hall shows go without tv backing you dont get that many top of the bills as good as the 2 on offer there. if it was in my neck of the woods i would be there small hall promoters need all the backing they can get otherwise shows like this will be no more they have put up the £ to put it on so any real boxing fan on here who lives within range of the show should turn up to it if they can afford it imo
your right daddy b ward willb a star up ere pal watch him him most days palthe guy miles better than i was at this stage of my career :TU:

Its just that i think if he is going to do Bantam Weight then there is alot easier nights work out there, this fight is great for the fans. If it was me id want Napa as low as possible in weight and the same with distance, 6 rounder...

I watched Dave Dolan train today before I interviewed him. He's in fantastic shape and is training really hard. He looked really sharp. Should be a really good fight, because John Lewis Dickinson also looks in tip-top condition.
