Just because he knows the risks doesn't mean the fight should go ahead
Precisely. This is where a fighter should be protected by his team, or by any governing body - would Earl pass a medical at this stage? I don't really know much about how stringent medicals are, but I wouldn't be surprised that if he had an MRI some kind of anomaly would show up. He went down with the very first semi solid shot Khan Landed, yet took absolute bombs off Katsidis before. The Katsidis fight clearly ruined him, and now he wants to do it again, four years, and two blowout losses later?

Madness.

Surely they must of looked at his record since the first fight? Two first round stoppage losses to fighters who don't hit half as hard as Katsidis. I mean Khan hits pretty hard but Katsidis punches are what I would describe as "heavy" clubbing punches. If it happens, Katsidis wins in the first round or if Earl has learnt to hold maybe the second.

You were quite happy to stick him in against Khan when you knew he was shot, at least now he has had a good rest

To be fair at that point he'd only had the big Katsidis loss, now he's coming off the back of 3 stoppage losses, 2 of them 1st round stoppages and a points win over a journeyman 2 years ago. Shocking that they could allow this fight imo.

Based on what exactly? He looked fine against Marquez - he got beaten, but then Marquez is the better fighter - and he didn't cave in under the first assault.

Even if he is slightly damaged goods, he will be ten times fresher than Earl, who is completely ravaged at this stage.

Johnny Eames had refused to train him, it was no secret he was damaged goods, BC is just being hypocritical, esp now Earl needs a few quid.

Katsidis's style makes for short careers you can't tell me he hasn't been damaged bad in his last 2 fights. The Australian's camp are well aware of Earl's fragility which is exactly why this match is being made.

News Flash...... Promoter matches home fighter to win......Unheard of!! Whoever thought you would get cynical matchmaking in boxing! BC must be pulling his hair out.

I just hope the boys are being paid well

let's hope earl gets stopped very early and doesn't take a sustained beating.

but also let's hope the man is able to do enough without the promoters thinking of taking his purse away.

sounds like a very bad, very cynical and potentially very dangerous matchup.

Being realistic does Earl really think he has a chance? Does he need the money that bad to take a beating for it? Surely not. Has he opened a gym as well recently?

This is a fcuking dreadful fight! Surely Earl can't be put straight back in with a monster like Katsidis after 2 years out of the ring. Anyone authorising this fight needs a to take a long hard look at themselves....... and at worst enforce a warm-up fight against a decentish opponent

Earl looked to be one of the most shot fighters out there before his retirement. Even his much lauded fight against Katsidis the first time round was a one-sided drubbing other than one punch from Earl

An appauling fight.Team Katsidis should be ashamed of themselves for taking this.Earl will be ko'd in one, and I hope he doesn't get hurt too badly.

The aussies seem to love their mismatches:
Green vs Jones
Green vs Briggs
Mundine vs anyone since he got beat by Kessler etc

Earl wont even make it to the second round. I just hope he'll be ok after he gets KO'd.

I'd have to say that Katsidis hits far harder, either hand and is far less fearless than henry castle (hiss).

This fight cannot happen for numerous reasons
1, who exactly is in 'earls team'?
2, has earl even got a licence???
3, who would train earl? Isnt a trainer meant to look after his boxer?

4, does katsidis think he will get nearer to a shot by winning this?
5, what is katsidis trying to prove here wasn't the first fight one sided enough? Give it to earl he did put him down.
6, would anyone pay to watch this?

Why not offer lovemore ndou isn't he fighting in australia now? Least katsidis would give his queenslanders a show against a opponent that will make him busy

Earl has to have a license to fight in the UK and if he does, then he has to apply for permission to fight abroad. I don't know if he got his license taken away but whether he has one or not, it won't stop him fighting abroad if he really wants to.

The Australians will license Earl, he doesn't need the BBBoC to be involved. It is easy to put a team together, in fact he doesn't need anyone as long as he turns up down under and he is provided with a cornerman on the night.
Katsidis is doing this for an easy night as a homecoming after receiving 2 hidings, he is not doing it to prove anything or move up the rankings. In fact as long as he keeps winning he will be given another shot, the opponent doesn't matter.
The Australians will turn out in their droves and give Katsidis a hero's welcome, it will be televised too..
Ndou will be seen as too much of a threat as Katsidis is now shot himself and will need to look good to keep in line for a title shot.

Don't be too hasty. Green fought Briggs in Western Australia because New South Wales would not sanction the fight. After what happened there, I doubt any State Boxing Authority would sanction this fight. It may be verbally agreed on, but as Louis Mayer said "A verbal contract ain't worth the paper it's written on. "

Australians would rather watch MMA the standard of boxing Skill in Australia is poor and the match making is a joke. You can count the number of good (Active) Aussie boxers on both hands
