There was something different about hart on ringside today he seemed more frail more human and less obnoxious. Great anecdote about terry downes but the clincher said with no sense of irony by colin was when he said about terry downes "he could have dined for years on his beating sugar ray robinson but he didnt he always said i beat the ghost of robinson (at 42)......it did make u think of who he was sat next to....a guy who had a brilliant career far surpassing downes but who has dined for years on beating a shot to pieces roy jones jnr and getting one of the most controversial and undeserved wins in big fights over a 40 something hopkins! Lol most amusing.

How has Calzaghe "dined for years" off beating Jones? What a nasty bitter comment this is.

A 40 something Hopkins who has since gone on to become World Champion again.

And I'm sure Calzaghe would be the first to admit Roy Jones was well past his best in 2008. But after 45 undeated fights, coming to end of career, if I was in Calazaghes shoes, I'd be the first to take on one easy fight for a last big pay day before retiring!!!

Spot on Mugabi, my observations exactly, though I agree with Gobbles re 'dining out' and Calzaghe, even though that was the term Harty used re Downes. Calzaghe's reaction when he beat Jones was extremely irritating, but to be fair on him he hasn't laboured the point since - although he may have done had he not retired, we'll never know. And yes, didn't Harty look frail. But his 'not my cup of tea' comments re Prizefighter on a Sky show were classic, whether you agree with them or not.

Jones was one of Calzaghes idols. Most of us would be over the moon to meet Roy Jones Jr.
Well Calzaghe had shared a boxing ring with him - had gotten up from a knock-down from him - and soundly beaten him.

I think that goes some ways of explaining Calzaghes initial joy after the fight.

Age doesn't seem to count with Hopkins - but Joe beat him anyways.
Would we say Jones Jr. Only beat Hopkins because Bernard was too young? After al,l Hopkins beat the best guys many years later ..... Of course not!

Calzaghe hasn't 'dined out' on the Jones win at all, IMO. He should certainly go to town on the B-Hop win though!

I didn't even think of this when Hart was on. Good to see a contrary opinion on Sky, even though I think he was talking nonsense about Prizefighter.

As usual, it didn't take him long to show how out of touch he is by telling Calzaghe and Woodhall that they used to fight over 15 rounds. He'll call it as he sees it though, which can't be said for some of them.

He doesn't know what he's talking about......It was only a couple of years ago and he retired after it!
