Come and join us
As you know we all read these forums and sometimeswe think you lot do not realy know what's going on or what us promoters have to put up with to make fights and to get everyone on the same side, So to show you how bloody hard this job has become over the years i am inviting all members of this forum to sent there name and email address to our office and we will have a draw and the lucky winner can come and spent 2 or 3 weeks working with us putting a show together so you can come back on here and tell our side of working in the boxing world. This is open to every forum member other than any one who works for a TV promoter. We will ask if the draw can be done on ringside or at the boxing news office so everyone knows is was a fair draw you have until the end of June to get your form name and email address into us .

Re: Come and join us
I think it's a good offer personally and one which I'm sure someone will find interesting.

Re: Come and join us
It's a good offer for someone who can take three weeks off work at short notice.
That counts me, and I'm sure many others, out.
Sure someone looking to get into the sport would enjoy it, or one of the Boxrec journalists? Probably make a good article too, or a series of them.

This is right up my street. Tell me where to sign up
Re: Come and join us
Well, yeah it counts many people out including me. But a lot of people are struggling for work and if it's something you are interested in I could see it being a good experience.Captain Hook wrote:It's a good offer for someone who can take three weeks off work at short notice.

It doesn't say it's a paid job though....if it is then it's an even better experience for someone in need of temporary work.
Re: Come and join us
excellent idea Frank, right up my street, would love the chance to see how it all works behind the scenes.

Re: Come and join us
That is a hell of an offer, if I could afford to take time off owrk, I'd enter in the blink of an eye.
It would make a hell of a documentary Frank. I could see Louis Theroux stepping in, training with the fighters, matchmaking and trying to promote.
OT. I've got a question for you FTM. If Fury became a free agent, would you be interested?

Interesting, go for it chaps, it will be an eye-opener — but you can forget about getting paid by Maloney IMO!

I would have loved to do something like this but the more I think about it, the less likely I think it is I could get 3 weeks off work unfortunately!
Re: Come and join us
I'd LOVE to come and show Maloney and the rest of the boxing promoting world how it's done, because they don't half make a BIG deal out of getting 2 fighters in a ring
, BUT I ain't spending 2 weeks of my already pitiful holiday allowance working for Maloney for free in Kent. I'd prefer to spend the 2 weeks being waited on in the Algarve if I'm honest
If I get the sack in the not too distant or win the lottery, I'll do the boxing world a favour and come and sort out this shambles of a promoting industry for you all.
Actually I've got a spare 10 mins, so I may as well give Maloney, allegedly, Hearn and co a few pointers:
1) Get a Very Good headline bout within budget
2) N.B. Get at least 4 possible replacement opponents in mind and let them know they may be called up if they're on weight
3) Get a 50-50 fight at a suitable level for the bill as a support bout
4) Get another 50-50 fight at a slightly lesser level as another support bout
5) Give your fledglings a work out against the Thorpes, Greaves' etc.
Get the fight on the box, get TV to advertise it, advertise locally (papers/news/posters) and get boxers selling tickets, print a few tickets off and Bobs your over friendly uncle.
FrankyBabes, I also know I'd make a Great matchmaker and I'd do it at a very reasonable rate. PM me Mush!
