Barney confident of knocking out Froch

Post by kevin »

Matt Barney was in a confident mood yesterday following his last sparring session prior to his British and Commonwealth title fight against Carl Froch next Saturday.

Video of the sparring with Ruben Groenewald and Anthony Small will be on BBN later

It's not that unusual really for a fighter to use a sparring partner that is smaller than themselves.

Helps the bigger fighter with their speed.

Doesn't that mean you'd have to fight him next though?

Barney knocking out Froch would be the funniest thing I can conceive of, but I severely doubt that would happen.

“I have won five national titles and this will be the eighth unbeaten boxer I have been in with, because I do not have a promoter to back me, I always fight ‘away' from home. Some of the people who criticise my style should come to watch me rather than just base their opinions on what they read” said the confident Barney

I'll base my opinion of what I've seen and not what I've read then, Matthew Barney is the worse fighter to have ever won the British Title, he's an awful run around and flick out punches style fighter who's about as interesting to watch as a D-List celebrity reality show (which is slightly worse than watching paint dry).
He doesn't have a promoter because they wouldn't sell a single ticket for a Barney fight, I don't even think his family would turn up to watch his awful style of boxing.

"Matt wants the best now and talks about taking on Joe Calzaghe, Clinton Woods or even dropping down to middleweight to take on Howard Eastman, “I'll fight anyone who is number one in their division. I got robbed versus Thomas Ullrich, I thought I would fight him like Branco fought him he outboxed him but then got knocked out. I knew he couldn't knock me out, that's exactly what I did and they gave him the decision. I won at least ten of the rounds."

He wouldn't stand a chance against any of the fighters above and I saw the Ullrich fight and scored it 118-110 for Ullrich, so on that evidence he doesn't just box shite he also speaks it.

I'm picking Froch to win by KO between the 5th and 8th rounds.

P.S - I don't like Froch either, big talent but even bigger ego.

Maybe Barney does talk a load of shite but I actually thought he won the Ullrich fight. That said he still doesn't have anywhere near enough to beat Froch. This fight will be a dreary distance affair

i also saw matts fight in germany, and i thought he won it by 6 rounds, how can you say he lost, he didnt have a scratch on him, he barely got hit and he shut ulrichs eye up for him. it was so one sided it was funny. :TU:

I hope Froch wipes the floor with Barney, who whenever I've seen him has left a nasty stink behind him.

Froch probably has had to widen all the doors in his house to get his head through them, but I don't doubt his talent and desire one bit. What's more I think he's great to watch and mostly backs up his boasts up. I wouldn't be travelling 200 miles to see him otherwise. I wouldn't travel two metres to see Barney box.

"Blarney" had the cheek to excuse his dismal performance against Simeon Cover because Cover "didn't come to fight" ! :o Barney was on the back foot through-out the four rounds, and barely deserved the decision.

Talk's cheap, but let's see who comes to fight this Saturday. :box:

Unless he's planning on wearing horseshoes inside his gloves I really dont see how he can knock Froch out.

I must admit, I gained a lot of respect for Barney after his performance vs Ulrich, he had improved so much on the displays vs one armed dean francis and adamu.

Froch should KO him though.
