5. Translation for foreign corners.

What is even worse is when they eventually didn't have an ad break and show the picture of McCraken speaking to Froch and the commentators speak over it!BIGMARK wrote: 4. please lose ad breaks during the break in rounds

7. Don't talk over every entrance. Some fine, but some the audio/crowd is part of the experience.

thats why i liked the old screen sport/eurosport days with the matchroom you got the hole show even the short break between contests if they could update that format with a few interviews of fighters before there contest they would be on to a winner as you would get to know every fighter not just the main eventScottrf wrote:7. Re: SKY Punch stats, scorecards and those ad breaks etc
There's no reason why they can't show the undercard in full on the red button.

And also have the choice on the red button where you can do away with the comentary but still have the sound of the crowd etc for the atmosphere

Yes, well said!! The lack of (5) is baffling; it's not as if Sky don't know which languages will be spoken in advance.
And as for (6), I couldn't believe they just went back to the studio in London halfway through the Showtime interviews after Froch--Johnson!

Ad breaks provide the insentive to go and have a wee.
If you don't go in hte early rounds, then you run the risk of spoiling yourself by round 12.

So true.
Anyone that is going to stay up until gone 2am to watch people hit each other isn't going to be offended by a few naughty words!

I suppose you're right. I do think urination was the real reason for 15 rounders being scrapped, no man should be expected to last that long.doctorboxing wrote:That just adds to the tension of a good fight - all part of the boxing experience!keithmoonhangover wrote:Ad breaks provide the insentive to go and have a wee.![]()

All very good suggestions, but what is the chance of sky picking up on any of these...
I'm sure we will all be ignored as usual.
Perhaps we should all email the sky sports team?

how f**kin gormless is that!! the next fight will be on sky so build it up ffs!
Re: SKY Punch stats, scorecards and those ad breaks etc
That's fair enough, but like you said they could always edit the repeat. They should put some sort of Viewer Discretion notice before the live events and leave it at that.BIGMARK wrote:I had been told that they did this because the re-runs go out before the watershed but then surely they would bleep them out?kevo wrote:7. Things I don't want to see copied from American broadcasts..
I like to have press row scoring (as I presume the dudes doing it are sitting on three different sides of the ring), but sometimes I have to admit on the big fights shown on US networks where you've got press row scoring, three commentators scoring, an Internet poll of scoring, that squeaky bastard scoring, the bloke who wipes the spillage off of Larry Merchant's chin scoring, a drop-in surprise celebrity scoring, ALF from A.L.F. scoring, Steve Farhood's Mum scoring... It gets a bit much.
I sometimes find myself bothered by the overwhelming desire to be seen to be presenting a non-biased plurality of scores, & wonder if the mythical Casual Fan (as if the fuckin' Casual Fan is going to be watching two Mexicans who weight the same as their left leg beating the shite out of each other) would not merely be confused by the overabundance of information.
& the PunchZone thing (or whatever they call it) can just fuckin' die. Sometimes I stare up blearily at the screen in the wee small hours & think "Is this the PunchZone thing, or am I watching a hi-tech deodorant commercial?"

Thought they film every fight anyway? Just incase the main event lasts 30 seconds.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Probably don't want to pay the Camera crew for the whole night.LeedsLad wrote:There's no reason why they can't show the undercard in full on the red button.
Even if they didn't show the undercards on the red button they could at least show it the next day

They don't neccessarily film every fight. Especially if there's a large bill. The fights which are after the main event don't normally get filmed. There's often 2-3 undercard fights after the main event.
Re: SKY Punch stats, scorecards and those ad breaks etc
ad breaks are ok but not for a PPV, no way jose.
i think the audio from each corner should alternate everyround and we should be able to listen.

Re: SKY Punch stats, scorecards and those ad breaks etc
I think if you push the red button, then you get the following options.
1. Choose the corner you want to listen to in between rounds.
2. Tiny camera on the cornermans forehead or glasses, so we see what he sees between rounds.
3. The chance to score the fight yourself at the end of the round.
4. All viewers votes are calculated after each round and posted on the bottom of the screen.
5. At the end of the fight, we see the viewers votes. EG 91% Voted Froch, 8% Voted Johnson, 1% Voted a draw.
6. Different camera angels, including one directly above the fighters. Red button, you can choose the camera angel.
7. Fighter's view as they walk down to the ring.
8. At the end of the fight, there are is a multiple choice of questions to ask the fighters. Viewers vote and the question with the most votes gets asked.
9. Before the fight, you can watch a split screen of both dressing rooms instead of the studio.
10. Another multiple choice near the end of the show asking you who the winner should fight next.
Come on SKY, there's some canny ideas on the list, let's see some of them on the tele.

Re: SKY Punch stats, scorecards and those ad breaks etc
Treat us like adults.
Give a disclaimer at the start of the show that this is live and there is a chance of blue language, apologies in advance, that sort of thing and then leave it alone. It's just a little thing, but it's probably the one thing that riles me more than anything about Skys boxing coverage. If I am chosing to watch a combat sport, after the watershed, I do not need the condescension that I feel when being apologised to by Rawling or Smith for the odd f-word. If I have my boy up watching the fight with me, it is my choice, as a parent, to allow him to watch and hear what is being broadcast.
You don't get the announcer cutting in every time Mr Blonde swears during a C4 showing of Reservoir Dogs, so why is there a need for it in Boxing?

Re: SKY Punch stats, scorecards and those ad breaks etc
Absolutely NO ad breaks during the fight.....between rounds is a vital part of the fight and as viewers we have a right to see whats happening between rounds.
Press row scorecards.
Never again apologise for a bit of swearing......i don't believe anyone has ever complained to SKY about a bit of swearing, and if anyone ever has then they should just be told to f*ck off.
Show the interviews from American broadcasts.
Stop being so bloody negative......our commentary teams second guess how foreigners are scoring the fight and bend over backwards not too appear bias. Its irritating.
All the above are suggestions that could and should be easily implemented. Be interested to hea Ed Robinsons's view on them and the other ideas thrown out on this thread.
