Will matchroom earn from Froch v Johnson and Ward?

Post by goldenears »

I guess they'll get their share of the UK TV rights but how do the "promoters" of the fighters in Super 6 otherwise have any involvement or are they de facto managers of the boxers?

Surely Mick H gets paid on the Showtime deal to the end of Super 6 as he negotiated Froch's involvement?

Who actually promotes the fights? Showtime? Isn't promoting getting the venue, selling tickets and selling TV rights? If they're talking about the final being at MSG that isn't coming from Hearn or Goossen surely?

Sorry for the naivety, just confused about how that business side of this thing works...and as a manager in a different field trying to get my head around the role the manager actually plays and the role the promoter plays - and whether Mick H has the rights to earn from a contract he negotiated?

Mick H is suing Froch for the Showtime money of the Johnson and Ward fights.

You've got to be kidding.

Mick H delivered consistent early and mid career exposure via BBC and ITV as well as, more recently, probably the most consistently high-calibre of opponent of any recent British fighter (admittedly with the help of the Super 6).

I expect that there will be some sort of agreement where Hennessey will still get his cut. All of the fights are "co-promotions" between each contestants promoter but essentially Showtime do a lot of the work i expect the deal is something like they are guaranteed for eg 1 million per fight by Showtime and the promoter will take 20% then extra revenue of other tv rights crowd attendance etc is split according to separate deals between promoters and fighters.

I cant see how Matchroom will be able to muscle in and take any sort of fee for Carl's next two fights in that way probably as mentioned only UK tv rights.
