Geale who is his next fight, and his claim to beat the best.
With his win for the IBF strap, and his recent claims of wanting Martinez on the footy show, it got me thinking, surely Geales handlers would have a plan of maybe 2 or 3 defense's then have a shot at Marivilla.
So how would you prepare for Martinez?
I think if Soliman can beat Benjamin in Germany in July, this could be 1 good fight, and Soliman is akward as is Sergio.
He could fight in Australia first up against Rubio, who i would think would travel for a title.
And maybe a unification with Chavez Jnr if he wins his next belt, surely it would buy him a shot at the the Diamond belt with the WBC and IBF title.
Thoughts.

maybe manfredo, rubio would be good to. I think his mandatory will prob be a rematch with sylvester
Re: Geale who is his next fight, and his claim to beat the best.
Here are the IBF's MW rankings. Obviously they are slightly out of date as Geale is still listed as the number one contender and not the champ. I must say that when I look at this list I envisage a long title reign for Geale if he simply sticks to fighters ranked by the IBF. Outside of Barker and Mundine I don't see anyone who could give the champ many problems.
I especially like the suggestions of Manfredo and Soliman (if he beats Simon), and these would be the two best choices out of what I believe are the realistic options. If Soliman does beat Simon I think that he would be a fitting challenger for Geale given the domestic nature of the match up and the fact Soliman will have earned his shot with five straight wins over decent opponents. The unbeaten Simon would also be a good opponent if he beats Soliman, but this time it will be the German boxer who will be traveling to fight Geale. As for Manfredo, he is a relatively well known fighter from the USA and he is also on a nice little run; a win over him would help raise Geale's profile some more (good for a potential HBO fight with Martinez) and it would strengthen his position as a top 3 fighter at 160.
As for what he can do to prepare Martinez: fight good opponents who have some speed and boxing ability, and find sparring partners with the same qualities. It's also important to get more experience against southpaws.
1 Daniel Geale Australia
2 NOT RATED
3 Cory Spinks United States
4 Anthony Mundine Australia
5 Roman Karmazin Russian Federation
6 Peter Manfredo, Jr United States
7 Darren Barker United Kingdom
8 Benjamin Simon Germany
9 Sam Soliman Australia
10 Osumanu Adama United States
11 Dionisio Miranda Colombia
12 Eromosele Albert Nicaragua
13 Noe Gonzalez Uruguay
14 Fernando Guerrero United States
15 Marco A. Rubio United States

Based on Geale's reaction when I asked him about a possible a title defence against Soliman ...Im thinking he is gonna target the big fish straight away!
Re: Geale who is his next fight, and his claim to beat the best.
Going by the IBF's ratings the "mandatory" will probably be Spinks.

i really hope he dosent bother with mundine, that would be a backward step. the media seems to be pushing for it though. geale probably wouldnt mind the opportunity to avenge his only defeat either
Re: Geale who is his next fight, and his claim to beat the best.
The spinks fight wouldn't be bad, but it has to be here. Geale needs to see with the much needed attention of late, how much his stock has rose.
If he wants Sturm, it'll have to be in Germany, if he wants Martinez it will be in the US, he needs a couple of fights here. Mundine i actually forgot about, i think he would want that reversed wouldn't he.

Re: Geale who is his next fight, and his claim to beat the best.
Mundine has not paid IBF fees in the past has he? I always thought he was only ranked by the WBA, until he vacated his title when the made Kessler his mandatory and ran down in weight to avoid it, then he became an IBO boy, which is odd given his managers comments on the IBO. The fact that he has got himself ranked by the IBF at middleweight makes me think he must be going to chase the Geale fight. I guess he knows he at least has a chance of beating Geale, and won't need to leave Aus to do it.
Re: Geale who is his next fight, and his claim to beat the best.
Mundine has had an IBF middleweight ranking for almost two years. For most of 2010 he was rated above Geale.dan h wrote:Mundine has not paid IBF fees in the past has he? The next fight for Geale should be Mundine. It is the obvious choice moneywise without overseas travel. A chance for Geale to set the record straight while pocketing millions. If the fight can be made it would rival Green V Mundine for Aussie fans. Soliman v Geale Has about as much appeal as Mundine V Soliman 4. What possible benefit could Geale get from beating someone Mundine has beaten three times? If Geales management insist on aiming for the best then Sturm or Pirog should be targeted, at this stage Martinez is a bridge too far IMO.
Re: Geale who is his next fight, and his claim to beat the best.
Thanks for clearing that up. I never knew he was rated by the IBF for the last 2 years, especially at Middleweight. Odd when he was apparently campaigning at Light Middleweght from Feb - Nov 2010.hearns wrote:Mundine has had an IBF middleweight ranking for almost two years. I agree it is the best fight for Geale, good money, can fight at home, will boost his profile even more in Aus and it's a very winnable fight.
I would like to see Geale get at least 1 big payday before he fights Martinez. As if he loses to Martinez it may take a while to get another big fight

Re: Geale who is his next fight, and his claim to beat the best.
I don't think Mundine would want to fight Geale now - Geale is probably better than when they fought and Mundine is almost certainly worse.
Re: Geale who is his next fight, and his claim to beat the best.
But Mundine wants to fight Austin Trout, the WBA's pretend Light Middleweight champion.
Cotto is their real champion.
Cotto is their real champion.
Re: Geale who is his next fight, and his claim to beat the best.
Mundine has now a new ploy to explain his shirking of decent opposition as mentioned in this press clipping:
So now we all know! It wasn't a pulled heart muscle all along - everyone is ducking him!"I want the champion,'' Mundine told the Herald. "After I beat Trout [who is due to defend his title against David Lopez next week], I am going all out to beat Cotto. I will beat Trout, and I will beat Cotto - if they give me an opportunity, but I bet they won't.''

Anthony Mundine is the most feared man in boxing

This is probably a dumb question but do you need to pay a fee to be rated ????

Geale holds the IBF World Middleweight title. Why should he dance to somebody else's tune? Let them challenge him for his title!
