if they chose them wisely they could attract some non-boxing fans...
To be interviewed, or to be the interviewer? I disagree if its the former - boxing is an unique sport you will never get "non boxing fans" into it.... due to its nature they have chosen not to watch it - its not going to suit everyone, there are calls to ban it after all.

My expeirences of casual boxing fans is that, on the whole, they watch it when its someone they know - but then they like to think they no it all. I couldn't believe I was having a "serious" debate with a mate about "who would win Naz or Eubank" (remember when they had their feud). I would simply say Eubank and my mate thought I was talking about of my arse and look at how much better Naz is - he would knock him out no problem. So if Sky interviewed famous fans, and they used to interview the likes of Paul O Grady (and it wasn't Ken Buchannon) the causal fans would be going "WTF does he know about boxing".

Interview more famous ex boxers like Bruno, Eubank etc - then yes that would draw in more casual fans.

Did Jason Cundy replace him on Your on programme. If so I know why? Surely he should have been given some boxing stats.

:shame:

I totally agree with you on that Stu. I think it was during prizefighter that they interviewed 'big boxing fan' Phil the power, and while he may know his darts, he sounded like an old woman talking about boxing. I can't really remember what he said, I just remember it sounded like he didn't have a clue and it certainly didn't add anything to the broadcast.

Personally, I couldn't stand Newbon. I found him to be rude and obnoxious. He always seemed to derive pleasure from being rude to boxers. Shame he never got lamped IMO.

At least Eubank put him firmly in his place who said something along the lines of "from the comment you just made, this instantly tells me you know nothing about boxing" :DDD  ... now that's the stuff of legends. :TU:

Interview ex boxers by all means, but not Eubank, - he would just end up referring every question back to his own career.

Dislike Gary Newbon, purely because he always used to slag Wolves off on the footy in the 90's from what I remember
