Domestic matchups
Domestic matchups
we've had groves v degale, for a british title, on PPV.
cleverly-bellew, for a world title, could have happened on the same show, if bellew had been able to make weight (attempting to replace braemer). it's a fight that apparently is in demand, two top british light heavies for the WBO title.
murray-mitchell, europes two top lightweights, will soon face off.
all fights that are hapening on different scenes - domestic, world, european.
i wonder if these will be isolated examples of top domestic battles; or whether it will set the stage, and create the demand, for more such matchups.
not long ago these type of fights just weren't happening - i.e. the on again, off again that was barker-macklin.
what other great all-UK matchups can happen/are on the horizon?
the one i'd like to see the most is gavin rees v anthony crolla.

Re: Domestic matchups
Will Macklin-Barker ever come to happen? I was well looking forward to that.
Re: Domestic matchups
Am glad we are starting to get these 50/50 scraps. Macklin v Barker would be hard to pick a winner. Mitchell v Murray also 50/50. Rees v Crolla would be good too but I think Willie Limond is next for Crolla. Paul Smith v Martin Murray would be a good fight aswell as Sykes v Buckland rematch. John Simpson v Smith won't happen again but Smith v Lindsay would be a good yin.Autobarn wrote:we've had groves v degale, for a british title, on PPV.

Hall vs McDonnell is happening
Re: Domestic matchups
Yip, another 50/50. Looking forward to this one. Got a feeling it maybe a MD or SD then a rematch.Londonirish wrote:Hall vs McDonnell is happening
Re: Domestic matchups
Not forgetting Fury v Chisora, Price v Dallas and the winner taking on John McDermott.
Re: Domestic matchups
without wanting to cause offence, that's not quite as glamorous a matchup as some of the above-mentioned...
the fights i was thinking of are the ones that are too risky usually to get made, but which seem to be happening more frequently...

It's not the promoters its Adam smith demanding top domestic fights and he pays the wages to the promoters
