Gavin to fight Brook for the belt FW got him stripped from after there next fights then he would not be sniggering..

He has done alot as an amateur but as a pro he hasn't fought high calibar of opponents who are in there prime.

If Woodhouse did a job can't see Gavin retiring neither

Pathetic really and the immature sniggering between Farnell and Gavin just finished it off for me. At any point they could have turned round to the 'journos' and said come on that's a bit below the belt or whatever, but they just sniggered along like kids in a school class.

I'm sure Gavin is probably a nice lad to talk to, most people in boxing are good people when you get to know them, but the way he is conducting himself in the spotlight of interviews isn't really endearing me to him and that's all I have to go off as I'm not someone who knows him! There's confident and knowing you are good, I'm fine with that so long as it doesn't edge too far into arrogant territory, there's a fine line.
Well said sure curtis wanted to either 2 foot tackle them or worse. more credit to a man who quit football to get in the ring should be due

Agreed 100%. Farnell was acting like as Jim McDonell. Very irritating and disrespectful when its not his place to be so disrespectful and I was glad Curtis put him in his place with the Takaloo comment. Fair play to Farnell for coming on here and saying he was bang out of order for getting involved though.

Naz was a world champion at 21. Amir Khan at 22?

Gavin is nearly 26 and his handlers won't risk him in an English title fight.

Khan won the commonwealth title in fight number thirteen, his first title. Frankie won two titles in his first ten fights.... probably three by the time he reaches thirteen fights.

Yeah it was worse that the so called journalists started showing a lack of human respect as you put, totally agree, it could of caused a riot in other circumstances or with other people,

I don't think there's any need to address what Woodhouse, Gavin and Farnell said at the press conference because it's fighting talk and it happens all the time. I'm sure they'll shake hands like men after the fight.

The issue here is the journalists. They were unbelievably unprofessional and I'd like to see the reactions of their editors if they saw it. They need to go back to school and learn the meaning of the word 'impartiality'.

Yeah we all have our favourite fighters and may not like their opponent but every fighter who's prepared to get in the ring deserves to be treated with a lot more success than Woodhouse was. I'm sure Gavin and Farnell agree. Big fish, small pond comes to mind regarding the journalists.

I'm not sure about the exact criteria needed but I'm sure the Press Complaints Commission would be interested in this press conference.

From what I've heard, the guy who mentioned hand wraps wasn't a journalist, he was one of Frankie's mates. And if you listen carefully, the journo who asked the Birmingham City questions wasn't actually the same man who said "happy to take the money though", it was someone sitting near him (also not a journalist).

I would say it was obvious they were not pro journo's but Gavin's pals. Also, I would say Curtis is perhaps as deserving of respect more than any boxer in the country. The guy was not a crap footballer, he was England under 21 international and premiership (or whatever it was called then) standard. To swap those wages for what he will have been getting for a 6 rounder shows he absolutely loves the sport and is truly fighting for love, or is mad. How many boxers would go the other way given half a chance? Most I would say.

The one who hinted that Woodhouse couldn't even spell Knock Out let alone do one was a journalist.

I'll be honest I'm close with Frankie, love him like a little brother, I do respect Curtis so much though, let me tell you I wish I could of played football as well as him! It takes so much bottle to get in a ring and even more bottle to give up a fantastic paying job to going to a wage of a guy in a 9-5!! That's what the wages is like for 80% of professional fighters!
He left behind so much when he walked away from football, For that Curtis has my upmost respect, he's also begged for this fight! He's coming up gainer one of the best prospects in World boxing too!

Firstly well done Farnell 4 comin on here sayin he weren't happy at how he looked, good fighter in his day and a good reader of fights imo. Thought Curtis did really well handling the hostile and loaded questions by pro-Gavin firm of alledged pressmen and his pals, think if Curtis had dealt with em like Tyson used to at pressers they'd have dropped a log! Did any1 notice who Gavin was calling an 'arse licker' WHO hadn't trained any1? GLYN RHODES!!! sorry if 1 person in the entire press conference showed Woodhouse a little bit of support by laughing at his put downs of you Frankie but no need to throw your toys out of the pram!! As for who Glyn Rhodes has trained, while i was with him for 3/4 years- Herol Graham,Ritchie Wenton,Clinton Woods,Dennis Berry plus guys like John Fewkes and Ross Burkinshaw from 11 yr olds. As a fighter he won area titles etc and beat some good guys in a colourful career. On a lighter note Frankie, its a good job Rhodesy has mellowed with age or you'd have been dragged over that table faster than one of your fight ending flurries!!

glynn has been a trainer in 4 world title fights and numorous domestic and european title fights and your right manno glynn is not to be f ucked with! but its all done and dusted now we all probably said things that we might not say again on reflection in 5 weeks we will get down to the real stuff and end the beef once and for all but anybody saying ive got no chance in this fight are very wrong but talk is cheap i will have to prove it when it matters :TU:

True James, but Naz and Khan weren't eligible for the Irish title. Khan was 20 when he won the Commonwealth, Naz 20 for European and 21 for World.
Gavin will soon be 26 - his handlers pulled him out of an English title shot, yet people on here describe him as the greatest talent to come out of Britain. Sorry, it doesn't add up. He's older than Kell Brook but wouldn't be let near him.

Why the obsession with age? Fighters peak at different times and Gavin's still got plenty of time, it's not as if he's the wrong side of 30. There are plenty of fighters who reach world level at a young age but then burn out quickly, so it's ridiculous to use age as the barometer of potential in this context.
