Paul Edwards vs Chris Edwards

Post by allahsnackbar »

This is happening tonight. Not the most anticipated fight ever on a friday fight night bill.

Paul beat Bayaar on a cut last time. He doesn't look to have power and it looks like Chris Edwards will last the distance if he loses. Chris is a tough customer, proven at British level and I think he will win this fight. This is a step up for Paul Edwards.

I fancy Chris Edwards too. Vastly experienced and maybe his last shot at this level although there aint too many contenders in Britain at this weight so you never know. C Edwards by dec might even put a few quid on him.

I fancy Paul Edwards for this one. Young, good speed and skillfull, although C Edwards is tough so its going the distance.

Should be a really entertaining fight! Paul has the skills but Chris has the workrate, guts and an unbelievable chin he's probably the worst person to fight for your first 12 rounds tbh because he'll be in his face all night not taking a backward step. I see Paul using angles and working nicely off the jab outboxing and outthinking Chris but eventually tiring with Chris coming on strong from round 7-8 onwards with a razor thin decision going either way.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a draw although I think C Edwards will nick it via close decision. P Edwards is still untested at this level, the fight against Shinny was a joke and should really have been a NC if I remember correctly. Chris Edwards to win on points is 5/2 with Boylesports, bit of value in that.

Iv never seen Paul fight but Going by his record i think Chirs will win this. Paul's never been past 6 rounds and in his last two fights before he fought Shinny he seemed to struggle with Adny Bell winning 58-57 and the same with Anwar Alfadli 58-57 who record was at the time 0-5-2.......

iv sparred them both back in my 8 stone days and its a genuine 50 50 fight! paul has got the better boxing skill's and chris has got a good workrate and keeps coming for 12 rounds i think the question is how much has chris got left after tht fight with shindju where he seemed to start blowing towards the end!

I just watched those fights and I had the Bell fight a draw and I agreed with the Ahfadli fight.

One thing is for sure, they were close close fights. Chris Edwards has beaten Jamie McDonnell over 12 rounds and is proven over that distance. Paul Edwards hasn't gone past 6. Paul Edwards is having close fights with Bell (who beat Chris Edwards in a close fight over 12 in fairness) and ahfadli so these two fighters are close enough to each other in terms of level.

I think it's a close fight and the odds should be more even.

Keep in mind, Chris Edwards had a close fight with Bayaar which he lost on a SD.

Paul Edwards was 2/1 vs Bayaar and not favoured to win. He got clipped with a good right hand by Bayaar was was losing the opening round before it was stopped imo.

As a fellow stokie, i hope chris wins tonight, always extremely entertaining to watch never stops punching and coming forward. But at the same recently hes always in close fights (bloy aside) so will doubtless be close. Cant wait

Paul Edwards won most of early rounds, but he is really tiring now.

Whilst Paul has landed a fair amount, the punches don't seem to hurt Chris.

Nicely predicted young 'un.

Chris Edwards got that for me but a draw would be OK with me.

Absolutley well deserved! :TU:

Fantastic fight. Paul Edwards will be a lot wiser for this even in defeat. smashing fight and rd 12 was sensational.

Nice one Frank agreeing there should be a rematch. Would be harsh on Bayaar though.

Good, very close fight.

It would be horrible if Bayaar gets messed about, i really enjoyed this fight but the British title should never have been on the line anyway at the end of the day.

Bayaar first then Paul can come back afterwards.
