On the positive side, today I ran a full two miles, non stop, under 30 minutes. Not a major feat in itself but it has been years since I have done it. I still breath through my nose when I run and I still keep my chin down. The fat around my belly is beginning to disappear. My abs, which have been hidden under a thick layer of carnitas are making a comeback of a sorts. My neck and lower back, which have been giving me problems for years are feeling much better now.

I recently bought a Valeo 40 pound weighted vest and have been walking with it. I've been fluctuating between 199 and 201, so with this vest I'm at about 240, which is what I was weighing a couple of years ago. No wonder I was feeling like crap.

Update on Austin Trout: From Louie Burke

The Weigh-ins went off without a hitch, Austin made weight easily, just maintaining what he already accomplished the night before by making 154 lbs. David "The Destroyer" Lopez, surprisingly came in at 153 lbs. Weigh-ins, medicals and paper work were done within an hour, a quick and painless procedure, most American commissions could learn from.

Lopez is a tough, rangy boxer/puncher that has a wealth of experience, not only the number of fights he’s had ( 62), but also the quality. A win over Lopez is going to be a huge step in gaining the legitimacy towards a super title bout or a unification bout against better known names in the division.

Austin feels great and wants his supporters to know, that this fight is for YOU!!!!

I too am very disappointed that this fight is not on some channel or another. Of all the bullshit fights and reruns that seem to run forever on these so called "Sports" TV stations-you figure they would push it on to one of them.

Its late so the fight is over by now maybe, but I hope Austin stuck it in Lopez's ear tonite.

Art Aragon, 137, experienced little difficulty in disposing of his former stablemate, Alfredo Escobar, 135, in there clash at the Hollywood Stadium. Aragon showed no respect at all for Escobar's punches, making little effort to block Alfredo's blows to the body, while he whipped over vicious blows to Escobar's head.
Aragon decked Escobar for a two-count in the first round and again for a four-count in the second heat. Escobar was on his feet when the affair was halted early in the third, but even Alfredo himself, must have known that referee Johnny Indrisano stopped it at the right time..

Aragon closed '55 with two exciting wins over future world champ Don Jordan. the second bout on december 15th, found Aragon crossing the million-doller gate mark. "Flexing his muscles in fine style, this second victory over the game Jordan makes aragon the first Olympic fighter to gross over a million dollers at the gate, and in only six years," the Herald reported.
A mere 28, yet a veteran of 88 fights, aragon found himself competing for headlines with a hot young prospect named Cisco Andrade. In August '56 the two entered the outdoor ring at Los Angeles' Wrigley Field,
Aragon was ranked #5 welterweight in the country; Andrade #1 lightweight. And controversy found Aragon. Andrade's manager, Ralph Gambina, claimed The Golden Boy used too much eye medication, and refused to let Aragon enter the ring until it was wiped off. After a tense 20 minute delay, Aragon was wiped clean and the two went to war.
Andrade took a commanding lead through seven, but The Golden Boy caught him with his trademark left hook in the eighth and Andrade tasted canvas. In the ninth, he knocked the lightweight down again, but Andrade got up and seemed fine.
Referee Abe Roth stopped the fight. According to the Times, "A mini-riot ensued, with everyone climbing into the ring to accost and question Roth, who stood by his decision despite the firestorm of protest.
With turmoil raging all around him, Aragon proved to be the coolest cookie in the house, slipping on his robe and spotting Las Vegas Flamingo owner Abe Schecter at ringside, asking, 'Can you get me plane reservations and a hotel tonight?"

Me: I was disappointed too that it was not shown here in the U.S. Austin has yet to get the same attention as someone like Chavez Jr. Hopefully that will change soon.

The way I read the above Randy was it a split Dec ?
His site has UD written on it as fight just ended.
Either way, your right,this should propel him up a few notches to TV time. Any comments as to whats next or just taking some time off.?

Jack Elam is in the movie. He's one of my favorite old school character actor. They don't make them like that anymore. He came out in a TV Western in the early 1960's called The Dakotas. Remember that?
