Great fight that, fair play to the two of them. Barring a ridiculous wide scorecard you couldn't really argue if the decision had gone to P Edwards. Fighting C Edwards must be a nightmare because he walks through punches and is in your face for 12 rounds. I knew the 5/2 odds for a C Edwards decision win was a bit off. Looking forward to a rematch or C Edwards vs. Shinny Bayaar II.

Your fight with Shinny was a great scrap aswell. To be honest I thought Shinny just nicked it but I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch. You vs. Paul Edwards would be a interesting fight aswell. Have you and Paul ever sparred?

Thought Paul won that 7-5. First 5 rounds, 10 and 12 to Paul, the rest to Chris.

Great fight though eh?

Paul, unlucky mate. You'll come again. Great seeing your ability there, just a shame you were against a bit of a machine. Loved the spirit between the rounds.

I scored the fight: 115-112 for Chris Edwards

Round 1: Paul 10-9
Round 2: Paul 10-9
Round 3: Chris 10-9
Round 4: Chris 10-9 *
Round 5: Paul 10-9
Round 6: Chris 10-9
Round 7: Chris 10-9
Round 8: Chris 10-9
Round 9: Chris 10-9 **
Round 10: Paul 10-9 **
Round 11: Chris 10-9
Round 12: Paul 19-9 **

* = Jim Watt's scorecard gave the round to Paul.
** = The 9th, 10th and 12th all could have been scored 10 each.

To be honest, I thought that this was a clear-cut victory for Chris Edwards.
Even if you give Paul the (disputed) 4th round, he would still have lost in the scorecards.

Chris was just too busy for Paul tonight and outworked him every round (except for maybe the last).

Regarding Paul Edwards performance tonight (I don't mean to rub salt in the wounds) but I thought that he let himself down a bit.

What I mean by that is: From the sixth round he looked gassed, he allowed himself to slouch down to the ground on 2 (or was it 3) occasions and turned his back after engaging Chirs ans Paul also hung his head down a a few occasions as well.
Paul just looked tired through after the sixth.
And those examples of exhaustion I believe cost him the fight on the scorecards.

I realise that Paul hadn't fought past the 6th in his career, but I think everyone would agree that it showed tonight.

Paul Edwards will be back, it just wasn't his time, but his stamina must improve... His lack of resistance between rounds 6-9 cost him the result this evening.

Good, very close fight.
It would be horrible if Bayaar gets messed about, i really enjoyed this fight but the British title should never have been on the line anyway at the end of the day.

Bayaar first then Paul can come back afterwards.
agree, but u just know bayaar is gonna get shafted

How good would Chris be if he could really bang and was just a tad more cultured? He'd be a little Jeff Fenech!! Great peformance from both boys, would have been interesting at a neutral venue as i thought the crowd really inspired and pulled Paul thru some difficult moments.

I thought paul won by 2 rounds, but will not argue with the result as some rounds were close to call. Hope to see a let round robin torny with shinny, sexton, paul and chris edwards.

Great Fight thought C Edwards got it by 2 rounds... Chris has became a good 12 round fighter, there's a few up and coming that id have to him over 6 like back in the day where Chris had most of his loses over 4-6 rounds but over 12 at the mo they'd come unstuck....

Cracking fight. Thought Chris edged it personally, but a fight with no loser. Paul will have learned bundles about himself from his first 12-rounder. I thought he dipped a bit early in the second half, which cost him the decision on my card. That may have been down to a bit of 'can I do 12?'. Now he knows he can and a rematch would be something to look forward to.

Both guys a credit to british boxing, that was a great scrap and I'd love to see it again. I also just had Chris winning it by 2 rounds, his workrate and toughness for a 35 year old flyweight is amazing!

Smashing fight, both deserve hefty praise. Great to see a fight where the ref hardly has to step in and break them up. Thought Chris Edwards took it by a round, but "Young Paul" can take many positives from the fight.

Excellent fight. Full credit to both Edwards for putting on such a good scrap.

I had it 115-113 Chris Edwards. I'd like to see Edwards get a European title shot now. He deserves it.

This is a great time for the flyweights to steal some of the lime light.

Chris Edwards, Ashley Sexton, Paul Edwards, Shinny Bayaar.....let's keep matching them up for that British title. Every match is a potential cracker and great viewing. :box:
