I was wondering if anybody knew what they were gonna do if an individual who has already qualified for the trials (through pals, etc) places in the top 4 of the USA'S. They could either go down the list and take 5, 6, ect, or they could take additional people from the last chance qualifier. I havent heard anybody address this problem.
Also, I've noticed that they are planning on seeding the winners of the pal's, gg's and armed forces for the USA's. This makes sense if they are seeding them all together so that they fight each other early on, but if they are planning on seeding them seperately this creates a huge problem in that there will be a possibility that 3 people who have already qualified for the trials take up three spots in the top four.

From what I was told a few months back now, that if a athlete is already in the trials from previous tournaments they'll just go down the list to #4, 5, etc

Thanks my man. That definately makes the most sense. Do you know what the deal is with the seedings?
Re: 2011 Team Trials Spots
I actually was just notified about the seeding earlier tonight so I don't really know how it's going to pan out...
Re: 2011 Team Trials Spots
Seeding will basically have the top 3 boxers in different branches of the bracket.
So 1 won't fight 2 unless they both make it to the final. 1 wont fight 3 until the semi finals, etc.
I think the seeded guys might also get preference on byes (the standard seeding thing, nothing that USAB is doing differently), although I don't recall specifically.
We are using the draw functionality in the ESS.

Well I don't think it would make much sense to seed the fighters and put them against each other in the first round because this is still a National Tournament. They want the top fighters to win it not to fight in the first round and eliminate each other.

Re: 2011 Team Trials Spots
Ya, but it doesnt make much sense to have people who have already qualified take up 3 of the qualification spots either. Its gonna create a situation where some people may not actually win some of the final qualification spots.
For example: If the 3 people who have already qualified all make it into the top 4, then the people who place at #5, #6 and #7 will all earn spots. But these people will only earn these tournament rankings based on who they lost to. Ex, the #5 ranking will be awarded to the person who lost to the tournament winner in the quarter finals; regardless of how one sided that fight may have been.
If they were seeded together, it would negate this problem greatly, only allowing for the possibility of 1 of these people to be in the top 4.
Doesnt really make much sense. It is what it is though...

Where have you heard this? I thought you was asking if this is the way it was going to be, now it is for sure going to be handled this way?T Duquette wrote: For example: If the 3 people who have already qualified all make it into the top 4, then the people who place at #5, #6 and #7 will all earn spots. Anyways, I see what you're saying, but I don't know if this is true. And if it is true, they send a military quailifier as well so sending a quarterfinalist who loses to the top guy is just as justifiable.
Whoever is in charge of the seeding.T Duquette wrote: "They want the top fighters to win it"
