an idea from ESPN friday night fights
just joined boxrec today and thought this subject would provide some debate
i watched the ESPN friday night fights this morning in which they did a segment on Puerto Rico's top 5 fighters of all time which were picked by Teddy Atlas and Joe Tessitore.
as this the the Current Scene board with many different nationalities , who do YOU think is your country's top 5 all time fighters???
im Scottish so here is mine
1. Ken Buchanan
2. Benny Lynch
3. Jim Watt
4. Walter Mcgowan
5. Scott Harrison

We've had this before I believe, though I think it was with current fighters....
Might want to post this in Boxers of the Past so they can rate fighters from before 1950 over everyone else

thats a very talented bunch of fighters although i wouldnt have Mayweather at the top , Hearns is the only fighter on that list that fought in or around the same weight as Mayweather and i think he would knock Mayweather out as the "hitman" is just too big and powerfulKronkpride wrote:Michigan

I didn't give them #'s, you guys did.
I'd personally rank James Toney #1. I consider him the most phenomenal boxer of all times. For him to do what he did as a fat HW, on top of the destruction he put on Jirov at CW, is just amazing to me. I also rank him #1 out of the trio of him Jones Jr. and Hopkins. I don't think that there is any man in history that could beat as many guys from 160 pounds to unlimited as James Toney.
This dude is still running around, old and fat, without getting crunched. He has the best chin of all times. He has the tiniest hands of probably any notable HW that ever fought in the division. And he has the talk to rival most any charasmatic fighter of all times.
