Re: Come and join us
There is no way I could take the time off due to work commitments but what an absolutely awesome opportunity for somebody to sample life behind the scenes in this fantastic sport we love. I really wish this has come a couple of years ago when I was out of work for a few months during the recession! I had loads of money then too due to a redundancy pay out so wouldn't have needed paying! Oh well!
Anyone who criticises Frank for this is truly unbelievable. If only other promotors would do the same.

Frank:
1 - When will this occur and how much notice can you give.
2 - Will the two or three weeks be your decision or the winner of the draw, and would one week work or is that too short?
3 - Where will the person be working from and will it involve travel & how does accommodation get sorted for a trip hours from your office. Do you usually come back home on the night or stay over?
4 - Will the person winning this actually be working for you during the time or are you just allowing them to be a fly on the wall.
Thanks.

Re: Come and join us
The choice is yours, you can either do one or three weeks work, the idea of this is so you guys on here who are so critical at what us promoters do and operate will show you what goes on behind the scenes in putting and keeping a show together and matchmaking is done, you will get the opportunity to work on the build up of a show and the actual show.johnswan1 wrote:Frank:

I am sure if you were in the office this week and went through what we had to to keep the show alive you would think differently of the ideas you lot come up with. Anyone can be an armchair critic or promoter, I am the greatest armchair football manager and it is very easy to sitting in your armchairs on home when you do not have to deliver in the real world.
The draw will be made next week. If anyone wants to come to the office and witness the draw is done fairly and no skullduggery is used you are welcome.
look forward to your comments on Saturdays show.
Re: Come and join us
OOhhh will you pay me, will you wine and dine me, will you iron my shirt, will you tuck me in...
Seriously lads, whatever way you look at it, it's a great opportunity. I don't take my leave from work lightly, but it's something I'd probably never get another bash at. If you want it enough, you'll make the arrangements you need to make to make it happen. If you don't, then don't apply.

Frank, well done on doing this. Is there the opportunity for the winner to work with you on a more regular basis if they impress or is this strictly for the 3 weeks only?FtmPress wrote:The choice is yours, you can either do one or three weeks work, the idea of this is so you guys on here who are so critical at what us promoters do and operate will show you what goes on behind the scenes in putting and keeping a show together and matchmaking is done, you will get the opportunity to work on the build up of a show and the actual show.johnswan1 wrote:Frank:

Ive applied sounds like a great experience. Ive just graduated last year but stuck in a dead end job, so hopefully something like this can lead on to a career in an industry i love, maybe not with frank but you never know what connections can be made.

Re: Come and join us
am really hoping i win this opportunity , i hope to move from the white collar scene to the pros eventually , as a promotor so id see this as invaluble towards that goal , plus i do feel i actual have something to offer .
Re: Come and join us
If I don't get it, I really hope it's someone who's worth listening to. Would be a shame to not have a decent account of the weeks recorded.

What a great chance for someone to step away from the computer and put their money where their mouth is. Gutted this chance never came up when I was living in London.
Even more gutted I never got the work experience placement with Frank when I wrote him a letter back in 1998 :-)
Best of luck to all those who enter and well done Frank for being a good ambassador for boxing and GREAT Britain

Re: Come and join us
Yeah, I was in Liverpool on Saturday night, was there to see Martin Londsay but he was withdrawn from the card (see Frank, I trek around doing the legwork already!) and I spoke to Frank about it in a hope of maybe pushing my case.
Unfortunately the campaigning was futile and he said the "winning ticket" will be drawn out of a hat by Ed Robinson this Thursday.
Seems like there is 30 plebs, and me, looking to get in the hotseat.

Re: Come and join us
Whoever does it should take a Flip camcorder with them each day, and then eventually upload the footage to YouTube.
If not that, they should write about each day when it finishes.
IMO, of course. :P
