Re: David Price-Tom Dallas
I would love to see Pricey do it but lets not put too much pressure on. Didn't Helenius beat him comfortably in the ams a while back?
He has obvious flaws ( judging from his am days I have to add, so far as a pro he hasn't been in trouble ) but has plenty going for him. I think he would beat the other British heavies, bar Haye, with ease right now. Looking forward to seeing him move onwards and upwards.

Povetkin,Adamek,Perez,Solis,Helenius,Solis&maybe Arreola&Pulev are all better than him(thats just off the top of my head)...Id like to see the big Scouser get there, but i cant see it...the truth wrote:Tommy Gunn13 wrote:I like the look of Price but people shouldnt get carried away with his win over Dallas, that fight was never going pasT 3/4 rounds even if Dallas had plenty time instead of late sub....his style hasnt changed much since the amatuers,im sure he will get caught with big shots along the way, until then we dont know how he will react...After the Klitschkos&Haye its a very weak division,so who knows.Like i say i like how Price is coming along&knocking people out at this level&do i think he can become a World Champion...NO WAY!!Gavler wrote:After looking at the video it seems Price hasnt changed his style very much. Re: David Price-Tom Dallas
I've always liked what I saw with Price from his amateur days. He has sound fundamentals, and very heavy hands and he fights tall, which is going to make him hard to beat.FtmPress wrote:This man is so right, Lennox Lewis was ko 2 times and he still came back to regain his titles and let not forget Haye as well.Bomber 1 wrote:FtmPress wrote: You have to be kidding why would he need Emanuel Steward please tell me .
Franny Smith is a good Coach and Pricey is still learning, he picks bits up off everyone! He's a very intelligent lad! He's also gonna become heavyweight champion of the world, also people talking about his chin?? Show me a heavyweight bar McCall who gets belted in the chin with a big shot and doesn't go over?? These are huge guys!! They land and someone is going to sleep! Fact!
Lennox was one of the most intelligent fighter i have worked with and i have to say the same about Price he not a Lennox Lewis but he is the best young heavyweight out there today and i believe will be a world champion inside the next 18 months
He and Franny Smith learn quick and are not afraid to ask question or listing to other something a lot of people do not do in boxing today.
Re: David Price-Tom Dallas
Solis is finished, Perez looks small, Povetkin has had a strange career, Adamek has 2 years max after he get pulverised by Vitali, Arreola will burn out, Helenius is a big-punching lump but very flat-footed.Tommy Gunn13 wrote:Povetkin,Adamek,Perez,Solis,Helenius,Solis&maybe Arreola&Pulev are all better than him(thats just off the top of my head)...Id like to see the big Scouser get there, but i cant see it...the truth wrote:Tommy Gunn13 wrote: I like the look of Price but people shouldnt get carried away with his win over Dallas, that fight was never going pasT 3/4 rounds even if Dallas had plenty time instead of late sub....his style hasnt changed much since the amatuers,im sure he will get caught with big shots along the way, until then we dont know how he will react...After the Klitschkos&Haye its a very weak division,so who knows.Like i say i like how Price is coming along&knocking people out at this level&do i think he can become a World Champion...NO WAY!!

Re: David Price-Tom Dallas
Once the Klitschko's bros and Haye retire in the next 2 years and leave 4 world titles vacated it won't be out of the realm of possibility that Price can pick up one of the 'World title' belts going cheaply.
Having said that i reckon Price will have a similar career as a pro to his amateur one, he'll look good against the low tier opposition and blast them out but when he comes up against the very best he'll fall short and when he faces a real world class puncher who can take a few to give a few he'll get stopped.
Beating the likes of Tom Dallas and Raphael Butler isn't that impressive. Dallas was never going to be a contender for the British title let alone world title, he'd been fed a bunch of fat out of shape euro journey men who all had losing records and the first half decent boxer he faced in Zack Page showed him up for what he was, a slow handed flat footed Heavyweight who had semi decent power if his opponent complied to stand still for a few seconds to get knocked out.
Facing Mcdermott will be Price's first real test in October but between that i'd like to see him in against a tough hungry journeyman like Demetrice King who will not only give him rounds but at some point during the fight will also test his chin.
Tyson Fury has only been a Pro 3 months longer then Price but has already faced much tougher competition and although he may not have looked that good in some of those fights, that's what happens when you face 'LIVE' opposition who come to win so for me he's the best heavyweight contender we have in Britain at this moment untill Price proves otherwise in the ring.

I think the 2007 amateur super heavyweight champion Roberto Cammarelle was the No 1 and he absolutely demolished Price with ease in the semi's.gobbles wrote:He did knock out the world No 1 at the Olympicsexittored wrote:Once the Klitschko's bros and Haye retire in the next 2 years and leave 4 world titles vacated it won't be out of the realm of possibility that Price can pick up one of the 'World title' belts going cheaply.

Re: David Price-Tom Dallas
Yeah was thinking that the other day as his style would have translated perfectly to the pro's even more so then Povetkins who always beat him as an amateur and of cause being Italian would have mean't they could have sold him in America. I guess he already had a good stable career as a Police officer and was probably given quite a bit of Euro's for winning the Olympics and world titles by Berlusconi.keithmoonhangover wrote:I wonder why Cammarelle never turned pro?exittored wrote:I think the 2007 amateur super heavyweight champion Roberto Cammarelle was the No 1 and he absolutely demolished Price with ease in the semi's.gobbles wrote: He did knock out the world No 1 at the Olympics

Only pulev Perez and helenius are prospects out of that lot and all have had more fights then price , who's to say they all won't be world champions? I'd fancy price to beat most of them with the exception being Perez very dangerous, didn't fury bash up helenius in sparring over in Germany and try to get a fight with him but they wouldn't have it?

Re: David Price-Tom Dallas
I would be amazed if Fury bashed up Helenius in sparring let alone have him running scared. The man was an experienced amateur fighter who beat plenty of top guys including Price and has been fighting stiff opposition since turning over and looking to land a title shot soon.
Cammarelle never turned over because he has it good over in Italy. Comes from a wealthy family, is something of a celebrity and has a great job with the police. Also read he has problems with injuries and 3-4 rounds is his limit.
Beijing Olympics certainly showed he was in a different league to big David, yet Camarelle himself was not unbeatable, Povetkin beat him everytime for example.

Re: David Price-Tom Dallas
nice KO. really sharp. thought price was a ponderous, uncoordinated and vulnerable. a gentle giant type. those were some really straight, well deivered punches, similar to haye in some ways.
hopefully he can do that to john mcdermott and create some excitement.

I couldn't agree more. I was VERY impressed by his performance on Saturday, but that doesn't make a career. That said, I'm not dissin' David, he seems like a canny lad and I wish him the best of luck.
