TBh now I've viewed it on the PC it doesn't look like Wlad on the picture.

It's just a poster to sell that App game on 3rd gen phones.

1. He is generating interest in the fight.
2. These tactics are more likely to draw Klit into a brawl, and Haye has much more chance in a shoot out compared to being on the end of that jab all night.

If he beats Wladimir, the amount of wedge to be made from fighting his big brother will be too difficult to turn down.

Besides, they've already done the t-shirts of Wlad getting bumf*cked by Haye in preparation for Vitali. And he isn't using any protection. Shocking.

and as if that isn't bad enough he was only wearing 8oz gloves while doing the bumming! :oo

nb. I wouldn't like to spank Vitali's brother before fighting him (not that I see anything other than a convincing Wlad win).

Yeah. Much tougher bastard than his little brother.

If Haye does win (and I would say there is as about as much chance of him winning as there is Groves beating DeGale  ) then we must have the Vitali fight. I just can't see it any other way - quite aside from the money, he'd be considered a bottle job if he turned it down.

If he beats Wlad and decides to retire, then its his business, but he'll be getting no birthday card from me.

I won't be watching any of his films, and I will be stopping the missus from looking at pictures of him while she's flicking her bean.

IMO Haye is playing the bad guy very shrewdly.
I'm not misinterpreting at all - you made specific reference to it selling the fight, I'm saying that job has already largely been done and there would be more effective ways to 'top up' the PPV than repeating the 'decapitation' controversy. You're also forgetting he was predominantly doing this to promote his ipad app rather than the fight.

Are you seriously trying to tell me that unveiling that poster is going to make any significant impact on either stadium attendance or PPV numbers? It's impact is utterly negligible in that regard. There are also plenty of other ways to generate a 'buzz' without resorting to cheap, tacky stunts like that.
It will increase PPV numbers, yes.
Asterix, note that I said "significant impact", not that it will have no increase. As I mentioned in my post to Poncey, you're all seemingly ignoring the fact that it's primarily to publicise his app, not the fight.
Even if we park the 'ethics' of that poster, it's my contention that if Haye's aim is to continue to push PPV, there are other tactics that would be much more effective than repeating the 'decapitation' routine.

I don't think many fighters go in there aiming to cause brain damage, win yes, hit the other guy yes, knock him over yes, knock him out yes... but specifically trying to cause brain damage? I don't think so.

As for the poster, I think it's pretty good.

they're trying to knock each other out...being knocked out causes brain damage...being hit on the head causes brain damage.

i'm noit saying that fighters are actively trying to permanently and seriously injure their opponents but they are trying to hit each other in the head and this does cause brain damage.

regardless my point is really that i find it slightly odd when fans of the most brutal sport in the world get their knickers in a twist over trash talk....

I actually agree with you, it's just that you didn't seem to like a certain Harlesden based boxer doing it, but its ok for Haye?

I don't mind the trash talking at all, it adds to the build up - unless of course it becomes camp like Murray and Mitchells ring face off equipped with mic's and WWE-style throat slashing gestures. Still, it's a business and if it sells the fight, who am I to argue?

only in relation to Groves....i said to a mate recently that degale's trash talk will be hilarious against the likes of dirrell and ward (or any of the yanks) if he gets that far...

i love the trash talking side of boxing...i simply prefer st george over degale and if you look back at my comments i wasn't actually criticising degales trash...just comparing it with the amount groves fired back..

the thing about trash talk is that it does set you up for mockery should you fail.

Ali was funny mate, a million times more than Haye that's for sure. Not always, as with Frazier, but generally a very funny man. And the poster's not funny, I'm not bothered by it ( it's not even Wlad by the way ) but it just seems crass and a bit pointless, but there you go.

Yes you made the comment about the yanks on here too and I know what you mean, but I just thought it was a bit hypocritical to castigate De Gale for doing it, when you'd be quite happy with him doing it against another opponent. I try to be consistent in my opinion's regardless of the fighter involved but I do understand it's all to easy to become involved when it's a fighter you like, we've all done that.

I'm not sure why I have become so defensive of De Gale, but I suspect it's to do with the anti-De Gale pack being so large and active. I just think people have been too quick to slam De Gale for everything he does rather than a few isolated points.

Absolutely agree there, you leave yourself with a much greater fall if you say too much pre-fight. Haye will have a huge fall if things don't go to plan against the doctor. But rather than making childish amendments to his surname for my own personal amusement, I'd be more likely to applaud him for giving it a shot. I've never really been into kicking a man when he's down.

I think we all know enough of the man to realise he is above such silly things.
Haye showed his true colours by refusing to be in Klitchskos company for fear of being shown to be intellectual inferior ..so now he does it from a distance.

No I don't think will allow himself to get drawn into a shoot out over this and I think Haye will be on the end of the jab.
However i'm sure the Ukranian doesn't like it, deep down all boxers, esp at his level need to have some animal in them and it will make him want to hurt David more.
The Londoner is sensible to try and draw furious reactions because he knows his best chance is to have a war, and all this sells tickets.

don't misunderstand me mate...i think Ali was funny (i named my kid after him so it's not like i'm hating on him)....but a case could be made that comments he came out with were far worse than anything Haye has done IF you're the sort of person who takes offence at such things.

Ali was not always the fighter universally loved, respected and admired....his ban, the rumble in the jungle and the debacle in vietnam (which 'proved' ali was 'right') all changed America's opinion of him from uppity n-word to cheeky chappy.

By the way this thread is why i love forums, peoples opinions are amazingly varied.

This is the fight that Haye always promises....but then he ends up running around the ring "scratching like a little chicken"  the way he did against valuev. He will try and "outbox" Wlad with Booth's famed negative tactics. It will be the most boring fight in heavyweight history.

If you enjoyed the super punchout between David ''Gatti" Haye and Audley "Ward" Harrison then fair play to you. Against bigger men, he runs and scratches.
