I have watched several alverez fights and think when Rhodes connects Saul will go. Also think 8-1 massive price for tko victory. Any thoughts?

It's amazing to think that back in 1997 Rhodes was the 'spice boy' of british boxing and at 21 years old nearly beat Otis Grant for the wbo middleweight title.

Now at 34 and four losses later he has the chance to finally win a world title and he's got a good chance against Alvarez, would be great to see him do it and i think if he can survive the early stages he'll have a good chance to take Saul out in the final third of the fight. Saying that though in terms of what's better for Boxing Alvarez needs to win and continue to become a future superstar of the sport.

One thing to note though is that Rhodes has never lost as a Light Middleweight.

This last sentence reminded me straight away of Hatton saying that prior to the Pacman fight.
I hope I'm wrong and Ryan wins, I really do but it seems unlikely for me

Good luck to Ryan, i really would love to see him take this title.

I'll be having a patriotic bet on him too, i think he'll be able to take him out if he can land a couple of big shots. I'm not the biggest fan of Alvarez

Rhodes has had another solid week of prep.
He loves the heat - that won't be an issue - and he's totally in tune with the altitude issue.
Let's be honest this is a tough assignment for Ryan, but having been around the kid for longer than I care to recall, never have I seen him in better nick.
It is right that odds wise he's the second favourite but my oh my 8-1 ?!?
You might get a surprise fight night as well with the support in Mexico for Rhodes.
My forcast for what it's worth is a stoppage for Rhodes in rounds 6 to 8.
I don't see Ryan being unable to take his shots early on, and I think the young Mexican will get careless and get caught.
If Ryan hits the sweet spot he ain't getting up.

5/1 just to Win is a Big Price also, which I've taken. In a 2 Horse Race, 5/1 is good value!

Hi guys, didn't want you to think I was in a corner sulking.
Obviously gutted that Ryan couldn't round off with a World Title but ultimately you have to say Alvarez is a class act.
Ryan will continue - that's a given.
Currently the thought process is a stab at the EBU again, following the ridiculous decision to strip him after he had to pull out against Konecny with a back injury.
Konecny has his chance at World level for the WBO belt so will vacate.
There's life left in Old Spice yet !
Would just like to pass on Ryan's thanks to all of the well wishers - he got fantastic support up and down the Country.
Also converted many Mexicans into fans during his stay there.

I've been away for a week or so, and have only just seen the fight now.I thought Ryan gave a good account of himself, and was straightforward in the build up and gracious in defeat.A class act. I also feel he still has some good wins in him, as it is unlikely that he will run into someone as good as Alvarez very often.

He is going places that kid.I don't think there any many 20 year olds that can outbox a canny, hard hitting, well crafted european champion so early on in a career.I wish him well, as I do with Ryan and his team.
