Thanks - see you have been a member since 2002 with only a couple hundred posts, thought I was the only one who didn't post much who's been on here a while! :TU:

I'm more a sponge than a hose!
Barnes, Nevin, Ward and O'Neill have realistic gold aspirations.

Saw the Irish team (presumably not their first choice) box England the other week and was impressed. I don't know what the investment has been like over there financially since 08 but you always do well. We've had £8m pumped into team GB and will be very surprised if we manage a better haul than beijing. In my opinion our best shot is Cambell at 57 and maybe Nicola Adams in the females.

The Irish boys certainly have a chance as Russia are not sending their first team.
Russian squad
49 Belik Galanov
52 Georgi Balakshin
56 Dmitri Polyanski
60 Ildar Vaganov
64 Maxim Ignatiev
69 Islam Edisultanov
75 Maxim Koptyakov
81 Nikita Ivanov
91 Abdul Nurmomagomedov
+91Mohammed Omarov
This makes the tournament far more open.
It will be a big test for Ward, defeating several elite boxers will test his endurance to the limit.
Barnes will be favourite.Nevin improved in the WSB and while Darren is very talented he tends to find one too good in the Majors.
