Haye-Klit predict the strategy
Re: Haye-Klit predict the strategy
Haye will stay at distance, conserving his energy and giving up the first 11 rounds, then pounce
Re: Haye-Klit predict the strategy
I like your thinking.clopixolacuphase wrote:If I'd have been Booth I'd definitely have been working on getting inside big sparring partners and then ALLOWING them to use Wlad's normal gameplan of tying up and leaning on smaller opponents to screw in a hard uppercut. I'd be drilling that over and over and over with tall sparring partners. We all know Haye is fast enough to close the gap, we all know what Wladamir will do when he does. Get inside, allow him to hold, uppercut. Inside bodywork too. (And an elbow to the solar plexus if the ref can't see it.)
Also Wlad backs up really well when someone comes at him, because first they have to slip the jab and then punch. So they have to do two things to Wlad's one. So they slip, go to counter and already Wlad's moving back and out of range. You'd have to work on setting traps so that you're catching him AS he's throwing and not slipping first then throwing a punch, like all his opponents seem to do recently. You need to get the dude as he's coming forward and slip and punch at the same time, not slip then punch. Drill drill drill slip and punch, or parry and punch. But if you're slipping and THEN punching, you're f*cked with Wladamir.
Re: Haye-Klit predict the strategy
I know Haye got the nod against Valuev in Germany but come on, is he really going to nick a points win against the cash cow in his own back yard. I don't think so.
I believe the reason he was so cautious against the giant was partly because he knew he couldn't knock the bloke out even if he landed absolutely flush. And also because he knew he could outbox the slow, ponderous Valuev. Wlad is a much better boxer with a great jab. No way does Haye win from range.
Against Wlad, if he lands big, the fights over. Haye will go the same as the rest if he tries to stay away and pot shot and eventually he'll get caught.
Haye will take 3 or 4 rounds to wait for an opening and then he'll go for it. Get under the jab, right up against his chest and then throw the uppercut and chopping hooks to the temple. Of course, he could catch a right hand coming in and then it's good evening, but I think Haye's hand speed and power will have Wlad asleep inside six rounds I really do

Re: Haye-Klit predict the strategy
Thats a good point, if its anywhere near close after 12 rounds he is very unlikely to get the nod over Wlad in Germany.StevenB wrote:I know Haye got the nod against Valuev in Germany but come on, is he really going to nick a points win against the cash cow in his own back yard. I don't think so.
I doubt Haye could go the full twelve with Wlad anyway, the pressure on him will build as the fight progresses with Wlad constantly walking him down and sticking him with that powerful jab, he will be made to work every second of the fight, i think his stamina will be seriously tested in this fight. If he cant dispose of Wlad before the eigth, he's in deep trouble IMO.
Re: Haye-Klit predict the strategy
After watching snippets of Haye's recent training on youtube, I have a feeling the strategy is to surprise Wlad early and catch him cold with a heavy assault. His training seems to have involved alot of weight lifting and it looks as if he's gained more lean muscle which I don't think will bode well for a long fight. So they could be going for the shit or bust approach but as Tyson once said, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth...
Re: Haye-Klit predict the strategy
Great post and I agree completely.Glyn Leach wrote:Haye will prowl around the outside looking for openings, much as he did against Valuev. Forget all the aggressive talk, Haye and Booth are pragmatists, they'll only go for a KO if it presents itself but the overall plan will be to try and nick it on points because they won't want to engage Wlad any more than they have to. Finding those openings won't be easy though. Everyone knows that Wlad's jab is hard to get past, but even harder is that lead left leg, his second line of defence, which opponents need to negotiate before they can even get close enough to attack. All in all a very difficult job for David, but he is good at exploiting openings when they present themselves so you never know.
Wlad will be happy to keep him on the outside with the jab and move backwards whenever Haye looks likely to attack — he has a fast reverse gear and a sharp enough brain to know when to use it. He will be thinking in terms of winning a boxing match too, points would suit him fine, but if David leaves himself open he's going to get severely punished for it.
A cagey, tense, intriguing rather than exciting fight, I reckon.

Re: Haye-Klit predict the strategy
Cheers John! Should add that I think it's vital for Haye to keep Wlad moving, circle him left and right and don't allow him to get set. Once he gets on that 'platform' that him and Vitali both use to punch from they become very hard to beat. Keep his feet moving, make him set and re-set, that's when I see the openings appearing for Haye to take advantage of.
Re: Haye-Klit predict the strategy
His footwork and poise are excellent when he's in control and dictating the pace/tempo but when he's under pressure he's all over the place, crossing his legs - Almost like he's in panic mode.

Re: Haye-Klit predict the strategy
Haye is going to use A LOT of lateral movment and when he sees the opening, he'll come in and fire combinations. He'll throw more and more punches as the fight goes on.
Klitschko will fight in his usual style, jabbing and hoping to catch Haye coming in.
IMHO, Wladimir willbuild a points lead as the rounds go on and Haye will not do enough to win many rounds, so David will have to put him on the floor to have a chance of winning.

i think it will be really, really interesting to see the effect on Haye, the first time Klit lands cleanly with a hard jab.

Re: Haye-Klit predict the strategy
I have some questions.....
1. What happens if Wladimir walks through Haye's punches?
2. What happens if Haye tires in the later rounds?
3. What happens if Haye walks through the Wladimir's jab?

Re: Haye-Klit predict the strategy
All I'm seeing/hearing is that Haye will slip the jab and get inside. I've yet to see him manage that in any previous contest so why's he suddenly going to do it here? He struggled with Ruiz' jab and he came forward on frigging rails.Counter-puncher wrote:i think it will be really, really interesting to see the effect on Haye, the first time Klit lands cleanly with a hard jab.

haven't you heard? Adam Booth says they have a strategy the Klit's haven't seen yet.

Re: Haye-Klit predict the strategy
On the flip side to all this, what do you guys think of Wlads tactics on this fight, do any of you reckon he will go 'normal' or do you think Team K will have a game plan of their own??
Everyones talking about what Haye will do, but think about what Wlad will do, maybe he will surprise everyone and go for broke himself
Who knows eh, but thats one of the beauty's of this sport, I personally think it will be a cautious affair at first and depending on tacts it could go either way (proper fence sitter i know lol)
One things for sure though, i will be watching it all the way

Re: Haye-Klit predict the strategy
I hope Haye's working on stamina for this fight because he's going to need it. I can understand him concentrating on sprint training for Audley, but this is a different kettle of fish entirely. I'm sure he realises that though. He's going to need to use almost constant movement and the concentration involved in such an important chess match will be draining also.

I agree Glyn. If I gave you £1,000,000, who would you bet it on.Glyn Leach wrote:I hope Haye's working on stamina for this fight because he's going to need it. Re: Haye-Klit predict the strategy
I can't imagine Wlad will go all out - It will leave him open to potentially being countered, close down the space he loves so much and he knows that the longer the fight goes, the bigger the question mark over Haye's stamina.
It's ok going 12 rounds against someone and throwing 20 punches a round but he's going to need to do far more than that to beat Wlad.
The photo this week shows Haye looking pretty lean, I would be amazed if he comes out looking to chin Wlad early - I think they're thinking long.

Re: Haye-Klit predict the strategy
I've said from the start - Haye must have Wlad out of there by 6 rounds. Any longer it's bad news for Haye. Wlad is suited for the round 12 rounds and we all know what happens once Wlad begins to dictate the fight and get in his groove.
I'm really interested to see how Haye reacts once Wlad lands with his jab! That jab is solid and it defiantly makes Wlad opponents think twice about coming forward so I'll be intrigued to see his reactions.
I think Haye knows he cannot afford to let the fight go to the cards. Haye is defiantly not planning to go the distance or let this fight go beyond 7 odd rounds...

Uuuuuurgh ... it changes from day to day Moony, today I'm thinking Haye but other days I think Wlad - can't ask for much more from a fight really, can you! Re: Haye-Klit predict the strategy
I have a feeling Wlad could come out aggressively, sticking out the jab with authority from the opening bell (even unleashing some 1-2's). I really do believe Wlad needs to let Haye know what he's in for right away instead of playing it 100% safe. Wlad must dictate the proceedings or Haye will sense vulnerability if Wlad looks nervy and cautious.Crazyboy wrote:On the flip side to all this, what do you guys think of Wlads tactics on this fight, do any of you reckon he will go 'normal' or do you think Team K will have a game plan of their own??

Wlad fighting scared will resort to being knocked out early in my opinion. I'd love to see an aggressive Wlad in there July 2'nd, he is a murderous puncher.
