Taking away the Audleys lost time because of injuries and the boxing politics i.e. SN holding the British HW title, then I think Audley should be exactly where he is - I am the public!!

Your saying because Audley won a Gold medal he should be expected to progress his career quicker than other HW's, he has to learn the pro game a gain experience in the same way that any other prospect does (gold medal or no gold medal). Winning an amateur gold does not automatically make him special in the pro game IMO

Audley is 18-0 and has looked good in spurts, so to say he has done nothing in the pro game is stupid

Audley will be HW Champ of the world in 12-18 months time IMO

Harrison won´t fight a Top Ten fighter in the next 12-18 months, maybe a top ten European.

Harrison has no heart, no real punching power and no promoter. he will go into history as the most underachieved olympic champion of all times.

He is 34 and 5 years pro and has now reached a 3rd or 2nd class European Niveau. Be realistic.

Britain has 3 fighters who are under the top 20 in Europe. Number 4 is Harrison, wide away from these 3...........

Of course, it's all with the benefit of hindsight that it seems daft. When Lewis and Bowe turned pro they didn't have the future IBHOF careers we know of now, just a lot of potential. Same with Harrison, he could have been the best thing since sliced bread in 2000, that just sounds daft in 2005 :D

See what I mean?
Well to me it was clear as day that Harrison won a gold in a relatively weak olympic competition at super heavy. And he has nowhere near the talents of Lewis, even at that young age you could tell Lewis was something special.

Please explain how Harrisons olympic gold was harder to win than Lewis', I really dont see that being anywhere near the case.
Harrisons division in the olympics was so weak, there was serious talk of scrapping it

Lewis and Audleys amatuer careers are incomparable.

exactly :TU:

1999 was Sinan Samil Sam the best guy in Super Heavy, won the World Championships and went pro in 1999. He would have killed Harrison...... :box:

Sam beat him in a disputed 4-3 as I recall

Audleys heart hasn't been tested really tested yet, so how do you know he is lacking in that dept?

What a finish against Davis!!!!!

But he did fight Harrison at the 1999 world champs, don't recall him killing Harrison though. Audley fought lazy as he often did and Sam outworked him.

It's funny how threads about Harrison tends to end up in a dispute about something or other. I'll repeat what I said earlier - the evidence needed to assess the guy is so painfully slow in coming that we end up talking about the same things, and going round in circles. Until he ups the level no more will ever be gained from discussion. But I fully understand all of what people have written here, he is frustrating the average British fan like no other guy I can remember :TU:

All this Harrison-shit is hypothetic. He hasn´t shown anything in Heavy, less than a Dimitrenko who is ten years younger and IS a prospect and HAS time.

I have been posting here for 1 and a half year and was at the beginning saying that guys like Sam, Krasniqi, or Dimitrenko will reach more and go further than Harrison. I was right till now and that won´t change. But it also won´t change that there will be some new Harrison-Hypers......and that´s ridiculuos.

Don't group me as a Harrison-hyper thanks, I just say it like I see it. Can't be fairer than that, it is a discussion forum.

Christ, what a great debating technique. Okay, I say it isn't fact. This isn't the "current scene" so we'll leave it there.

keep cool, mate. This has nothing to do with the Current Scene. KO Artist is just right. Lewis was one of the best Olympic Superheavies of all times. Comparable with Stevenson. I am no Lewis-fan but he was also a TopTen as a Pro. Who has done that? Ali didn´t win the Olympics in Heavy.....

After the fall of the iron curtain the Amateur divisions get weaker and weaker every year. the good ones go Professional when they are young. Harrison was too old when he went pro.

Comparing Lewis and Harrison is like comparing Lady Di and Camilla Parker-Bowles in a "who-looks-better-contest"......

Okay, but then what I don't understand is why the former Soviet states combined are actually taking more medals since the fall of the Soviet Union. Surely if their amateur structures were in bad decline they would take less medals and the western countries would take more? The fall of the Iron Curtain is not having a detrimental effect on US and British standards is it?

31st September, year 2000. Around 5:30am and I'm sat in my living room watching Audley take the podium, after following his path to the gold the previous days. Said to meself 'this guys going nowhere', and as a result have never watched a single contest apart from that Davis one on Sky recently. Actually, no, I also caught the last round of Bonin (by accident). But every time I see one of these threads and all the replies and stress a big :D rises. What a waste of time it's all been. What a sweet, spur of the moment decision.

Nothing personal against the guy - he's likeable and comes across well. Let him work with his media agenda and make his money, good luck to him. :TU:

Keep me well away from his boxing career, though. :box:

You know..... Much as I'd like Audley to do well: I have the feeling that his greatest achievement will be the fact that he was in the Rachel Stevens video.

And My God am I jealous. The WBF belt is one thing..... Her tits are another.

WBC Belt...... Or Rachel Stevens........ Or IBF Belt.....

fornicate it, My mind is made up. :TU: But I ain't the fighter. Audley, do something. Please.

The former Soviet States can send more boxers to a championship.
The "Western" boxers are becoming Pro sooner and sooner. Noone gives a fornicate anymore in Amateur boxing. Guys who are 18,19,20 become pro. Unbelievable in the Lewis era.

Sounds reasonable enough. So, just getting back to the original point - I guess Audley Harrison really is a big, useless, underachieving lug after all. :D

On the whole it was a lacklustre performance from Audley as you'd expect after the long layoff, but when he opened up in the last round you could just see class oozing out of his every pore

These heavies are in BIG trouble
