Michael Jones vs Jamie Moore

Is Jones has a chance to beat Moore this time or not?
I haven't saw they fights but it seems Moore got very unlucky last time is this true?

Here is my preview for BPN.

A relatively less active week of predictions starts with the rubber match between Michael Jones and Jamie Moore for the British Light Middleweight title. Currently, the scores are tied at 1-1 with Jones recapturing his British title with a controversial 3 round disqualification after Moore landed an illegal blow which left Jones in no shape to continue forcing the referee (Dave Parris) to disqualify the then champion. At the time of the stoppage the Manchester fighter, Moore, seemed to be on course for repeating the emphatic win he scored over Jones in April 2003. Moore was aggrieved by the referee’s decision as the punch appeared to be accidental and he claimed the rangy Liverpool fighter made the most of his injuries. Having viewed both fights one does suspect that Moore, who will be fighting on home soil, has the style to always cause Jones havoc and one has to make him the favourite to gain revenge from their November meeting. This is both fighters first bout since that eventful meeting so there is no clear form guide as to whether their last bout effected them in anyway mentally of physically

Personally, I don't give Jones much of a chance - he got a beating in the first fight (should have been stopped) and it was looking worse the second time, this was when Jones was going through some good form and Moore was going through an indifferent patch.

I remember being very angry at that decision. Jones looked clear as a bell and unhurt after the punch, but he also looked like he clearly didn't want any more of what Moore was dishing out. Hopefully this fight will settle things and Moore can move on to other things.

Because I live in states, I have not heard much about either of these fighters. I know that they've fought twice before, Moore winning one, and Jones winning one by DQ. How good are Moore and Jones, and do either of them have a real future at 154?

Moore is good against tall, wiry opponents - see Jones 1 and the stunning knockout of Facey. He was also giving hell to Scott Dixon, who dug deep and pulled out the win. If The Destiny is to be fulfilled he will have to not solely intend to box, but be prepared to dig deep at some point. He will have to come back strong after taking Jamie's best, or take away his confidence from the off (Duran?). Judging from their last fight, I'm not sure he will be able to do that.

Remember though Manos, Moore was taken the distance in fight 1 with Jones suffering a broken nose. Whilst I have NO DOUBT Moore will win this time, a stoppage win might be in question.

Good point, Stu.

What are your thoughts on Moore - Duran? I know he was injured and that, but he wasn't giving me vibes of confidence in the build up or in the actual fight and to be honest, I wasn't all that suprised when he picked up the loss. Of course, it's probably a moot point with regards this fight - I think he'll be really up for this one.

After originally think Jones would breeze past Moore the first time they met by the end of the second fight Moore's style, not to mention power, seems all wrong for Jones.

I think the disqualification was totally justified in the second fight.

For the third instalment, unless Jones is bang on form, I'm tipping Moore.

I was a little surprised at the loss but agree with your views it wasn't a huge surprised. I did tip Moore but not with confidence.

Any rematch, I would go for Duran.

Jones doesn't really have a future at world level, the best he will get is being a European champ and he'll have to work hard and get a bit of luck to achieve that.

Moore is the kind of fighter who improves with every fight and I think he's good enough to get a World title fight sometime next year but he's never going a be a long reigning world champ, he might lose in a couple of attempts or win one and defended 2 or 3 times at most.

I heard a rumour that Moore dropped Felix Sturm in sparring earlier this year, does anyone know if this is true ?

I'm picking Moore to beat Jones inside 6 rounds, I think he's got the perfect style to beat Jones and should win fairly easy.

I agree with your assessment of Jones, but think your overating Moore a little bit - I cannot see him really coming close to winning a world title, he might get a shot (cause I can see him as a decent European champion making some dough) but that is his level.

Jones might reach that level but he wouldn't be comfortable there or a long reigning champion, I can see Moore doing well at European but ultimately coming some way short at World level - sort of like Eastman.
